When I was studying foundation, we had to pick a painting and for six weeks/six months… I don't remember which… we copied the painting working from recreating the raw materials from scratch (making our own paint etc) and then copying it. I chose Nichols Canyon, 1980. I copied it in 1990 I think.

I love this run too. Late 80s to early 90s. I have a memory of taking a stack of these to Poland with me along with Dark Knight and Watchmen. The wall must have been down (I would travel by train or coach so I always had to go through it). Breyfogle had such a distinctive take.
