I am a Marxist and someone who enjoys labeling people by their ideological dispositions ;)
It's almost like we need some sort of discipline that analyzes the conjunction between politics and economy, not as two disparate things but as the highly intertwined fields that they truly are. We will call it: political-economy! And—sorry what was that?
I'm trying to understand this character, and how it looks like 'thread' but I don't get how the thread is stacked on top of each other? Is this how they used to make thread?
Made a GO board ('made' meaning just cut and sanded a plank of wood and drew some lines lol)
I like the juche symbol personaly, but the bike wheel is cool too
So this is what second-wave feminism merged with evolutionary psychology looks like....
People need to read Marx's Critique of the Gotha Programme; people need to know the difference between distribution and the mode of production! Now more than ever, this cannot be more clear!!
I think I'm actually starting to get how this is played (I'm white)
Now how the fuck does 月 look like 'moon'.....oh, that's how. Huh.
lmao I suck, but the players on here are super nice! 3 different players wished me luck learning.
Asking bc the group seems to be trotskyist, but I don't know how accurate this is today. The last they're mentioned in the wiki is 2013 and it gets hazy from there.
Another example. 生 (shēng) means "to be born • to give birth • life • to grow." How does this random assemblage of lines mean 'to be born'? Here's how!
Take this character: 对 [duì]. It kind of just looks like a bunch of abstract lines. But it actually breaks down into the radicals for right hand. So when I'm doing the visualization process for remembering the character, I think about a right hand.
To that effect, I often think back to the last paragraph in Rosa Luxemburg's Accumalation of Capital. She was writing this in 19-freaking-13! All of this is to say that I think that there's a balance between pessimism and revolutionary optimism.
I'm finally reading The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism...in Chinese! I got another English copy to read side-by-side and help with understanding. Obviously imperfect, but I think this will be fun trying to translate
Yeah... I left that part empty for now because it's going to take...an hour or two?? to come up with the visualizations for around 50 characters. Especially since THIS is the fucked up visual aid reference sheet I'm using (adopted from Mandarin Blueprint YT channel)
Made a set of 50 flashcards for chinese characters, i'm going to start incorporating 'visualizations' (memory aids that combine the pinyin (initial + final), meaning, as well as the stroke-order of the characters. I'll continue with the next 50 once I'm done these, etc.
