Really anxious today. Having trouble getting started with everything, straight out of bed. I think it's left over exhaustion and anxiety from yesterday, but as always, it's hard to pin down. I'm taking some time outside in my chair, ear plugs deployed, trying to relax before work
I would guess it's a Himmelman’s plume moth. Also here is a picture of a plume moth with wings spread. (Maybe different species, not sure)
This is a baltimore checkerspot. I only know of one place in the region I live in where they can be seen, and then only briefly. Because I am happily obsessed with butterflies and moths, I keep records every year, and was able to make my annual visit to see them today. Really beautiful butterflies.
An American Lady observed 6-21-26, a cabbage white observed 6-20-26, a monarch caterpillar, and a nessus sphinx moth, both observed 6-21-26.
A spicebush swallowtail, a great spangled fritillary, a banded hairstreak, and an edwards hairstreak. All observed on 6-21-26. My husband probably got a better picture of the fritillary, so when I get it dled and processed, I'll post it.
Someone here on bluesky posted this the other day and it triggered me. I wish I knew who it was so I could credit them.
Ok, this is the best thing I have ever posted on bluesky, easily. A while back I commissioned a work of art from Karparik @karparik07.bsky.social. They drew my furry stalker self, a fennec fox who goes by Husenytsya in the Zone... (Cont).
A forest tent caterpillar, with the little penguins on its back, and a tiny green caterpillar, most likely a copper underwing moth.
Silvery Blue butterfly. I only know of one place in the local area where these can be seen, and then only briefly. They also never seem to want to land, so getting a photo is difficult. This one was unusually cooperative. observed 5-25-26.
