I did and loved a peloton ride to Madonna’s Confessions part 2 this morning.
I will be making a blanket of these I’ve decided, so I have to make a ton more. I need inspiration and ideas for different color combo references. I just did these 4 based on the 4 tennis major tournaments.
Not to lib out too hard on fat book Friday, but my plan was to microdose this book all summer long as a nonfiction project, but it turned out that it was breezier than I thought. Reading about his thoughtful, elegant political considerations felt like a foreign language at this point in history.
Enough! These Wimbledon semifinals make me sick to my stomach! Get back on the court and save tennis!

30. Lost Lambs - Madeline Cash. One of my favorite reads this year, it tells the story of a family hilariously falling apart at the seams. The parents' newly open marriage is driving three precocious daughters crazy, but leaves room for a late in life queer revelation. This book made me laugh a lot.
29. Two Left Feet - Kallie Emblidge. If you've been watching the World Cup (as I have been, obsessively) and wonder what it would be like if it were actually gay, rather than just insanely homoerotic, this one's for you. A premiere league player falls for the new guy on the team, Sweet drama ensues.
28. Bellies - Nicola Dinan. A dramedy of manners that details what happens to a relationship and circle of friends when one decides to transition. Moving from a simple meet cute to something altogether nuanced and complicated, it asks: Is it worth losing a part of yourself to become who you are?
27. Waist Deep - Linea Maja Ernst. Translated from the Danish (and apparently a sensation in Scandinavia), this novel tells the tale of several college friends - all at various spots on the queerness spectrum - who get together like old times at a lake house, but desire and debate come along too.
26. The Land and its People - David Sedaris. If you're following me, you certainly know his work. This is his best essay collection in many years. Witty, touching, and a little more curmudgeonly than usual.
Im usually insanely partisan to the point of psychosis, but today I’m hoping both adorable teams have a lot of fun.
25. Greta and Valdin - Rebecca K Reilly. The story of a brother and sister in a Maori-Russian-Catalonian family, where everyone is at least a little bit queer and no one bats an eye about it. MIsadventures and messy dramas and equal parts touching/hilarious. My mom raved, "WTF is going on here?"
24. I Make Envy on Your Disco - Eric Schnall. A coming of *middle* age gay novel (which there aren't enough of, frankly), this book takes you on a journey with a man who's trying to figure it all out while roaming the streets of Berlin. Characters there help him figure out what he wants from life.
23. When the World Tips Over - Jandy Nelson. A young adult novel referencing of one of my all time favorite novels (East of Eden). Three siblings struggle to keep it together when their father disappears, and their lives unravel after a misunderstanding about a coming out. Whimsical but not cloying.
22. Woodworking - Emily St. James. The title is a slang term for fitting in as your true gender stealthily, like fading into the woodwork. A teacher in rural South Dakota is transitioning and the one trans student in her school becomes a reluctant friend and sort of mentor. Town reactions abound.
21. Blue Sisters - Coco Mellors. Three estranged sisters - a fashion model, a boxer, and a no nonsense lesbian attorney - have to come back together when their fourth sister, the glue that held the family together, passes away. Can you ever go home again? You can if your home's about to be sold.
20. After Hours at Dooryard Books - Cat Sebastian. A really lovely mm romance period piece between a bookstore owner whose brother just died during the Vietnam War and a mysterious stranger who shows up looking for work. A cast of eccentric characters in 70s NYC during the garbage strike. Swoony!
