The main four do have specific facial inspos. Anson resembles Brandon Harding & Tanner Buchanan. Ollie resembles Keir Gilchrist & Zackary Arthur. Ollie's face came to mind later than Anson's; both postdate Leonard & Gabe's. On the left in the image is an example of each one's handwriting. (2/4)

#WIPSnips again! Just to prove I am indeed still working on the next part of Ollie's Journal! Had to make some redactions to preserve a surprise, though. Alt text is completed in the top reply as this snippet is just a bit too long.

[BLANK] made it to [BLANK]’s place at such a speed he could’ve sworn he teleported. He balanced his bike against one of the porch supports before knocking on the door. To his surprise, the door swung open with a lazy, drawn-out creak straight out of a horror movie. It was so evocative that he almost cried out “Don’t go in there, you moron!” on reflex.

Why was the door creaking, though? Wasn’t it new? Hadn’t he and the guys spent all last week rolling their eyes at [BLANK]’s dad going on about how good it looked?

Actually, what week was it, anyway?

It- it was… [BLANK] wracked his brain, but nothing came to mind. That wasn’t a good sign. Redoubling his efforts, all he managed to remember was that it was summer. Fat lot of good that did him! As if the heat and all green vegetation around wasn’t enough of a clue of that.

Could he even remember what he’d had for dinner last night? He was pretty sure it had been chicken nuggets and ketchup on a paper plate. Dismal, but typical. However, pretty sure wasn’t certain, was it?

[BLANK] realized he was letting the air conditioning out of the house and pulled it shut, making sure it latched. A feeling of unease had burbled up in his chest and going inside was now out of the question. The decision to leave followed that with alacrity. He was on his bike and down the road before he knew it. In a mount on his handlebars was his phone. He tapped it, making sure to glance up every other moment to make sure he didn’t hit anything.

That didn’t seem to be a problem, though. The road was empty. Hell, thinking back, most of Western Creek had been bereft of traffic today. Couldn’t have been for a holiday weekend; the Fourth of July had passed. So what was it? People wouldn’t just up and leave like that one episode of SpongeBob.

‘Well, people must be at work,’ [BLANK] thought, ignoring the specter of doubt looming in the back of his mind.

#WIPSnips, eh? Let's check the upcoming portion of Ollie's Journal, then! Things get a little tense in the wake of what happened at the end of last chapter... (Full snippet in alt text for those with vision difficulties!)

“We’ll deal with her,” he assured Gabriel, also in Spanish. “But right now I need you to sit down, keep yourself under control, and not do something that’ll get you arrested. We’ll get his tooth replaced. It’s going to be alright. I’ve called Richard and he’s on his way. Just sit here, appreciate that we raised a good son who will defend his friends, and calm the fuck down.”

By the time he was done speaking, Gabriel was sitting in a chair next to Anson. Stewing, sure, and looking more murderous than Leonard had ever seen him… Well, at least in a situation that didn’t involve his elder relatives. Anson mouthed that he had it from here and Leonard nodded his thanks.

“Okay,” he said when he got back into the hall, “has Ollie been given anything?”

“Like what?” asked a snotty-looking man in an ill-fitting navy suit.

Leonard looked at him incredulously. “Painkillers?” he said. “The boy just had one of his front teeth knocked out, as you all saw. If he isn’t in a great deal of pain, I’d be shocked!”

“Legally, we can’t administer him anything,” a dowdy woman to his left said. Her voice was so soft that if he hadn’t been looking at her, he wouldn’t have known she was speaking.

“Can you at least offer them to him and he can take them himself? Come on!”

“Susan, go get Mr. Pryce two ibuprofen and a glass of water,” instructed a woman with a platinum blonde crewcut who Leonard recognized. This was Hannah Novak, the vice principal. As Susan ran off, Mrs. Novak addressed Leonard. “I’m sorry about that. We should have been more on top of things. It has been… more than a little fraught around here, as you might imagine. Once Oliver was put in the room, I guess he ended up out of sight, out of mind. Not that that excuses our failure.”

“I appreciate that someone here has the integrity to admit when they were wrong,” Leonard replied.

“May I ask what exactly you’re implying, sir?” demanded the snotty-looking man.

I hear it's #WIPWednesday. Well, I guess I could share a snippet of Chapter Four of "Ollie's Journal". Subject to change before final posting, of course. ;)

“Whipping my sheets back and slipping my sleep pants on, I padded downstairs. My flip-flops waited for me by the front door. In short order, I made my way into the night. No way to outrun the voice in my head, of course… but I could maybe stifle it for a while.

“I know the neighborhood at night. The guys and I would go out for midnight strolls now and then, weather permitting. It felt lonelier without them, but then everything does nowadays. It’s like there’s this hole in my heart that won’t close unless the guys come back.

“Part of me sees it as an albatross around my neck, weighing me down forever. Another has hope that with time, it’ll heal and I’ll be able to move on. But I’m still so young. I often say I feel mature, but I still don’t feel like an adult. There are always reminders that I certainly am not. And this inability to know if this hole in my heart will heal is one of those. I simply don’t have the life experience.

“I wonder if one day I’ll look up and say, ‘Oh, I feel like a grown man now. Great! Time to act like an adult!’

“Does anyone ever have a moment like that? Is it that simple? I make it sound like a switch gets flipped in someone’s brain.

“Eventually, I made it to Rowan Park. To my surprise, there was someone on the bench near the pavilion. Leonard Teague sat, hunched over in his custom-made robe. At his size it looked like he was folded almost double. I noted with some dismay that he was crying. Each little sob made his mighty chest wobble.”
