10 kWh opwek uit zonnepanelen is zo bij direct verbruik 3 € waard, bij teruglevering aan net 0,471 €.

Omzetting naar batterij op 2,5 kW vermogen levert 83% DC-zijdig op. Weer omgezet naar AC blijft daar 40% van over op 300 W vermogen: netto 3,32 kWh = 0,996 €.

• 10 electric dumpsters
• 10 MWh of charged energy
• Multi-year fixed-price electricity contract
Observed results:
Net cost of charging: •-€129 -€129 (i.e. cents / kWh)
• €768 difference vs. uncontrolled charging
120% relative gains
Energy reading
This result highlights an important evolution:
The cost of energy is no longer determined solely by the contract, but by the management.
By aligning the recharge with periods when the spot price is low
— or even negative — it becomes possible to capture an invisible value in a static approach.

POLICE - MEXICO
The Municipal Climate Change and Energy Agency of Hermosillo (AMCCEH), thanks to this support channelled through Integrate to Zero (I2Z), with technical support from ICM, and BASE, is transforming itself into a Public Energy Services Company (ESCO) and has initiated efforts to electrify the municipal vehicle fleet and equip its public buildings with sustainable on-gri, on-site and on-road energy solutions, starting with patrol cars and police stations. I2Z, ICM, and BASE, have provided resources and technical expertise to AMCCEH for the establishment of the public ESCO. The pilot project involving a charging station, with solar photovoltaic panels and storage batteries, already supplies 33% of the power needed by the police electric patrol cars operating at the charging station. AMCCEH has plans underway to expand this green energy configuration to other police stations and other public agencies.

Update 2026: From pilot project to solar-powered scale-up

Could Hermosillo be home to one of the world's most electrified police fleets?

What began as an I2Z-supported pilot integrating solar PV, battery storage and EV charging at a police command post has helped inspire a much larger transition. The original system was designed to support 18 electric patrol vehicles, while demonstrating how on-grid, on-site and on-road energy solutions can reduce charging costs, cut emissions and support public service delivery. Hermosillo has since scaled its ambition significantly, moving to 370 electric police patrol vehicles supported by solar-powered charging stations at police sites. The project shows how targeted pilot funding combined with ESCO like finance models can go beyond a single installation - building trust, practical experience, technical capacity and reliable data that can help cities replicate and scale integrated zero-carbon solutions.
