💛 In the garden

A sunflower is beginning to bloom. The petals have completely unfurled on the top right and top left, but not in the top center or around the sides and bottom. Because of the unique petal arrangement, it looks like a heart shape.

Wrapping up my daughter's present 🦄

Already getting so many more ideas ( #nativeplants) from my last visit to Garden in the Woods. A few of my faces from my last walk, plus striped maple, which stopped me in my tracks from two directions.

Spotted joepye weed blossom in varied ranges of openness. It is white to purplish pink, and it smelled delightful.

Sweet pepper bush blossom. It is a dozen or so small white flowers with golden stamen on a leafed woody stem.

A Virginia meadow sweet flower. It is bright pink and violet-shaped, with droopy, bright yellow stamen coming out. The overall effect is quite gaudy.

Purple pitcher plant with sign: "Sarracenia purpura. Purple pitcher plant. Sarraceniacae. Midwest to E Coast." Five green pieces with red tips grow from a central base.
