If you enjoy glimpses of a variety of streets across Paris, check out posts from @mparisalphabetique.bsky.social. This post highlights a spot dear to me—located at la Place de Dublin, the #Paris crossroads seen in Gustave Caillebotte’s famous painting “Paris Street, Rainy Day.”

The top half of the photo is a famous painting, and the bottom half is the actual Parisian crossroads depicted in that painting. The painting is Gustave Caillebotte’s Paris Street, Rainy Day. The painting, set in 1877, depicts a drizzly day. In the right foreground, a man and woman with locked arms carry an umbrella. The man is dressed in coattails and a top hat, while the woman is wearing a long skirt and fur-trimmed top. In the painting, the streets are cobblestoned, whereas in the photo, the streets are paved. In the painting, other people toting umbrellas walk across the background. In the photo, cars appear in the background. In both the painting and the modern-day photo, Haussmannian buildings are prominent at the end of of each of three streets that converge at what is now known as the Place de Dublin.

Over the course of Season 50, I rewatched each of Cirie’s past seasons. While she was brilliant in each one, her masterful skill in #Survivor50 has absolutely astonished me.

While this surely is not an exhaustive list, here are some musings and questions I’ve had following last night’s episode (10) of #Survivor50. I would love to know your thoughts!

Glad they all got letters.
2 ways to get voted out of Survivor 50: Tell Cirie you want to vote out Ozzy. Or lie to Cirie.
A definite whiff of Boston Rob training emerged from Jonathan: lying to Stephanie about Ozzy coming after her.
Was the Aubry edit (especially during the auction) a winner’s edit or a final 3 edit?
Is this the first Survivor action that didn’t include a game advantage up for bids?
Wanna play with honesty and integrity? Great! But if you loudly proclaim that as your MO, then follow that. What irks me is a character or alliance making a big deal of that and then turning around and putting dishonesty and deception on display.
I found Joe more enjoyable to watch in his original season. However, I have to admit I see Joe as being the one player who proclaims “honesty and integrity” and then actually walks the talk—at least in terms of not lying. I may be mistaken, but this is accurate to the best of my recollection.
Why have we not seen Rick or anyone else looking for the idol Aubry burned?
Tiffany is smart and so likable. It was lovely seeing tribemates celebrate her immunity win, and I’m glad she’s still in the game.
While Devens surely is capable of spinning all kinds of yarns, I’m not sure even he could have concocted and quickly recited the litany of events he laid out at tribal. To me, that should have indicated he was, indeed, telling the truth.
In this episode’s final scramble, I took note of Devens telling Jonathan people were telling him the would be for Stephenie but that “they might be lying to me.” Smart cover, I’m thinking. And this moment will come up again, right?
Why did Jonathan vote for Stephenie?
I’m finding Rizo’s play more enjoyable on this season and could almost see him somehow working with Devens if it’s not too late? I would not wish for this to be to the detriment of Cirie.
Why did the camera return to Mr. Beast’s empty briefcase? Is something about the immunity idol Rick won tied to that briefcase?

Over the years, I have been inspired by the wisdom, perspective, and love of poet and peacemaker Mattie Stepanek (1990-2004). Deeply troubled by the tragedy of 9/11, Mattie penned this poem. It feels relevant and needed today. #MattieStepanek #Poetry #Peace

Mattie Stepanek, a blond-haired boy wearing round eyeglasses, a long-sleeve purple shirt, a black digital watch, and a trach tube sits posed with his poetry book entitled Journey Through Heartsongs. A poet and peacemaker, Mattie lived from 1990 to 2004. His gentle yet exuberant spirit and his messages of peace continue to inspire countless people.

For Our World

We need to stop.
Just stop.
Stop for a moment.
Before anybody

When I first returned from France, my mindset was to try to employ what I perceived as French decor rather than display French landmarks, etc. However, over the years, I have missed France so much that now my decor is more “How many Eiffel Towers can you count?” Currently lying under this comforter.

Merci bien d’avoir partagé ces infos et ces photos! Il y a longtemps, je me trouvais souvent sur cette rue. A l’époque, je ne me suis pas rendue compte que l’intersection de la rue Clapeyron, la rue de Turin, et de la rue de Moscou était le cadre de cette peinture fameuse de Caillebotte.

L’image en haut est la peinture de Gustave Caillebotte, « Paris, temps de pluie, » dans laquelle un homme et une femme portent une parapluie en se promenant à l’intersection de trois rues. L’image en bas est une photo de l’intersection vue dans la peinture.

Any other Claude #Monet fans here? I was just looking at his painting “Cliffs at Pourville” and noticed the two people in the foreground look—at least to me—more sketched than painted. Is it because they’re so small? Was Monet trying a different technique? Thoughts?
