Metal Gear Rising got me in the mood for some more of that hot ninja action. Haven’t played any of the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden trilogy since the first one, so it’s been a minute.
when bahamut and ifrit are fighting in space and the boss theme shifts into something like a fast paced ballroom waltz this mfer right here.
I hate to say it, but they really don't make 'em like they used to. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is one of the best action games of all time, and way better than the reception it got from both critics and the Metal Gear community at launch. One of the funniest, and most fun, games I've played.
Had my eye on this and played a little bit of it. Not anything to write home about, but it might scratch that Hades itch if you go into it with considerably lower expectations. It's out of early access but doesn't quite feel like it. Some thoughts:
started up Screamer and it's off to a pretty good start (this dog is driving a car)
Ultimately, if you're a Three Houses sicko (@hananomaude.bsky.social) that wants a good reason to spend more time with these characters and absorb more of the world's lore, and you're cool with the repetitive nature of both musou and FETH, this is a no brainer. Just set aside lots of time!
I personally didn't love the plot; it felt like one big excuse to return to Fodlan and hang out with our buddies again. But I do think that's a worthy sacrifice for the game we get here. And this is a LOT of video game; I had to force myself to disregard side content to finish at 50 hours
Combat feels great. I really liked how the difficulty of combat was on the easy side and the game's friction instead leaned more towards having your units directed to the right places at the right time. Fires will pop up as the battle progresses and you will have to juggle your units to put them out
Battles are very much traditional musou gameplay from a strictly combat perspective, but the devs did a really impressive job connecting strategy to the battles in order to better tie the game with the Fire Emblem identity. I think they did a great job here, and it is surprisingly dense mechanically
They did not skimp with the main camp, which acts as the game's monastery. Training, social activities with connected stat systems, merchants and the ability to improve the camp's facilities and what they can offer. It's great, though it also brings about a similar fatigue as its predecessor
The writers from Three Houses are involved here as well, with original voice actors coming back for all of your favorites classmates. The game is an alternative 'what-if' storyline scenario, but it nonetheless offers a LOT of lore to the canon (and said lore IS canon!)
Finished Three Hopes and enjoyed it quite a bit! It's actually a better game than I was expecting it to be, but it also has WAY more Three Houses DNA than I thought. It feels like a 50/50 split between Dynasty Warriors gameplay and Three Houses' characters, mechanics and monastery/social sim stuff.
I’ve been floundering around for a couple days, having a hard time keeping my attention on anything lately. Gonna finally start this bad boy up. Heard mostly good things from Three Houses sickos. Switch 2 supposedly gets this up to a solid 60fps too
Been wanting to play this forever and today has seemed like a pretty good day for it. So far it rules!
Always looking for more mutuals to interact with on here, mostly about games! #promosky Some Favorites: - Zelda - Fire Emblem - Darkest Dungeon - Resident Evil - Persona - Fromsoft - Pokemon - Final Fantasy - Disco Elysium - Metroid - Diablo - Mario Also, Layla says hello!
Thinking about the time Reddit’s Xenoblade community did a poll for the series and simultaneously chose Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as the best and worst game (as well as the most underrated and the most disappointing). Also, Xenoblade 3 took home the award for both longest and shortest game.
Been playing the Switch 2 update of XBC1 and managed to get past where I fell off the last time I played. About 30 hours in and enjoying it overall. Slow start, and there’s a lot of flaws here, but the new vehicles are a huge addition. Think this will be the year of Xenoblade games for me.
Similarly, I loved when "License To Kill" would pop up when shit hits the fan in 007 First Light. Feels like a little adrenaline slingshot.
wasn't really hyped about it when it was announced, but Black Flag Resynched looks pretty good actually? one of those games I wouldn't have asked for a remake of, but it looks nice! one of those I'm not in a rush to play, but excited to check out eventually.
My top 10 N64 games in accordance with its 30th birthday🧑🦳 1) Ocarina of Time 2) Super Mario 64 3) Majora's Mask 4) Goldeneye 5) Mario Kart 64 6) Perfect Dark 7) Harvest Moon 64 8) Super Smash Bros 9) Star Fox 64 10) Banjo-Kazooiee
Singing to the choir here, but 007 First Light really is that good. The first half was great, but mostly impressive considering IOI went from making Hitman games forever to putting out an Insomniac tier prestige AAA game. That second half, though? Hard to imagine anyone doing a better Bond game.
every year when summer rolls around and the cicadas come out I’m always reminded of evangelion
