Someone is tired after a long day of watching me move us into a new apartment all by myself…
Marcel has been cleared by the vet for cuddles :) welcome, finally, to my emotional crutch
Since the semester starts on Monday (gah!!), I guess its time to get my syllabus underway for my graduate readings course on "Law and Society in Europe's Early Modern World"! Any and all article suggestions are welcome!! 🗃️
Marcel Update: he is an ABSOLUTE angel…but sadly caught ringworm at the rescue (which was not disclosed when I picked him up, hence the cuddling) So, in addition to his medical dip and a 5-week regimen of an oral antifugal, he must quarantine for 4 weeks. My little boy in the plastic bubble 🥹😞😷
Marcel wanted to help edit this article, but writing is exhausting!
Finally, after months, my special little guy comes home tomorrow!!
Grindr, calm down: it’s free to be ignored. I cannot imagine spending 350$/month to have AI attempt to guide me through the ineffable minefield of gay app culture… Shoo!
There is no greater sense of accomplishment for me than getting my inbox total cleared out, but how long will it last?!
As a child, I broke my foot by pulling a TV down on myself trying to get the VHS of this movie, which had been taken for me because I was obsessed. So yea, I was GAAYYY :)
Timeline cleanser: Please appreciate my perfectly golden lemon pound cake — I love him like a child, will be sad when I have eaten him.
In the midst of a budget crisis. its nice to see that the Uni can STILL find a way to give precarious, already underpaid NTT faculty the short end of the stick...
No job has “obvious economic value”! Just a few years ago, everyone claimed CS and its ilk were THE paths. Now, how many articles are there saying “I got a CS degree, but now I can’t find a job!” Data shows employers consistently seek employees with skills that can be learn in ANY MAJOR!
Perhaps Texas could, I don’t know, invest more in its educational infrastructure? Better, equitable pay for faculty (regardless of rank) and staff, for one… Two: stop persecuting faculty for asking students to think, read, and engage critically with questions central to living in the modern World…
Absolutely, truly, so excited for this book!! I’ve read some but there’s nothing quite like a physical copy
Did I pre-order it?! You bet your SWEET ass I did Get your copy today, @lmansley.bsky.social, @meghankroberts.bsky.social, @rpanchasi.bsky.social !!
The Friday before the semester starts, and there is quiet in the land
"Indoctrinating the students" you claim?!?!?! I've sent this exact email three times this morning...
As a yearner who longs to be yearned for…it really just speaks to me. Apparently 3 times in 48 hours…
Look out, y’all: I’m actually “researching” today instead of instruction or service work 🥰 might even mess around a writing something!
Happy birthday to me! Send money for Champagne and to help me pay my speeding ticket 🤪 venmo.com/u/JakobBurnham
Tomorrow—having finishing our units on NarrativeMed, HistMed, and HealthReligion&Bioethics—my Intro to Medical Humanities class is beginning our 4th unit… Really excited to bring in a full RTTPG to tie all the learning together with some practice engagement.
