I will miss the marvelous times — her being the ultimate shepherd at the beach, or leading the walk on hikes — as much as the mundane ones. Like the way she’d gently lay her head on my feet while I worked, or greeted every visitor with full bark and open heart.
Had to say goodbye to the best girl ever yesterday. So grateful for the gift of a decade with Lucy until cancer took her (as cancer often does). Her favorite activity: whatever we were doing. Her favorite food: whatever we were eating. She was all in for everything. Forever the best girl.
The World Cup has been excellent so far, bringing new entertainment or cultural learning daily on the streets of North America, but I needed a little of this today. Honestly makes me appreciate the footy even more.
The boys are singing in orgiastic glee, flags flapping like paralyzed, patriotic tendrils. Their songs a full-throated reflection of their internal delight, joyous specks of dust despite the repudiation of a cold, capacious cosmos. What will they do if it is coming home? Perhaps it already is home
