When I used to do a lot of road trips, I always checked @atlasobscura.com for interesting places. The Hand Fan Museum in Healdsburg, CA was on the list—finally made it yesterday. Lovely things.

Such a depressing forecast/weather warning. There will be rain in the atmosphere: but you will get wind, very little, if any, rain, and a ton of dust. Albuquerque’s regular virga climate is oppressive.
3 of the beautiful & magical alebrijes in Robinson Park, downtown Albuquerque. The Dog, Adrián Xuana (Oaxaca) really caught my eye because it’s very cool & is installed in a great spot. Loved the rain, yes, please, more. The wind. Not do much. Blew a big branch off my mimosa tree, and it was just beginning to bloom with little pink flowers. Albuquerque weather is harsh—nothing new, but climate change seems rapid here. Drought wind (haboob yesterday) heat noticeably increased.
Amy Goodman tonight at @guildcinema.bsky.social in Albuquerque. Such a courageous journalist. Truly inspiring. I learned that NM PBS is the distributor of @democracynow.org and felt very proud of my home state. Catch this documentary where you can. It’s stunning.

Attended the MMIW Remembrance Ceremony at UNM where trans and two-spirit people were also included. Learned a lot. Detectives from ABQ Cold Case unit were present. 186 Native women have gone missing since Nancy Guthrie has been missing. Not reported to diminish her case, just as fact. Albuquerque
Dance Theatre of Harlem, this past Saturday in Albuquerque was an inspiring, uplifting experience. Artistic Director Robert Garland opened the performance with a brief history of the Theatre. “New Bach,” which he choreographed, was my favorite performance, though all were stunning. Feed your soul!
According to my Lazy Amateur Naturalists hiking group, it’s World Labyrinth Say, so we took a troll to this one in the bosque. The lilies (I think) in the acequia were also lovely.

Scenes from the ritual Good Friday procession to Santuario de Chimayo in Chimayo, New Mexico. People walk from as far away as Albuquerque—about 90 miles. We drove then walked the last couple of miles. Beautiful day.

My tulips bloomed way too early in this too-warm New Mexico spring, and now the wind, entirely predictable this time of year, is shredding them. Flower woes
Today in the too-warm yard: a hyles lineata moth (according to my phone ID’er) on the red yucca and rosemary I rooted from my very hardy plant that has withstood all the New Mexico wind, drought, and unseasonably warm/hot weather this year. I’m planning to just cover my yard in it!
