Gotta say the new “Khaleesi virus” they are proposing to release to control the wild rabbit population in Australia seems like it would work pretty well just from looking at it.. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05...
I have apparently reached a milestone (50 donations) and the Lifeblood folks have given me a certificate, a pin and a bar of chocolate. Guess which one is going to be most impressive or the most interesting to the grandkids.. #DonateBlood #DonatePlasma
Guessing @news.abc.net.au just likes causing aneurysms to any defence experts* with its headlines One is the main page headline and the second is the click through. There was no warhead on this test ICBM. China has MIRV technology and would have multiple warheads on ICBMs. *Not me.
Brent crude (oil) prices are now below the level there were at when the US/Israel/Iran war started. Australian (NSW) retail prices are almost but not quite there.. They are below $1.50/l for U91 now though ($1.46 in Wollongong) @realphilgold.bsky.social
Despite it bee-ing winter here in #Wollongong, some bees are still out working @jagungal.bsky.social ? (Basic iPhone photography, nothing special)
Super windy in #Wollngong tonight as well as being cold. I expect our cats will all try to find a warm bed. Not great for the homeless (people or cats).
It gets better: I was trying for your name but realised I have no idea what it is so this was close enough.
Fair bit of rain in #Wollongong and Sydney. Then I looked further North. Oh! (courtesy of windy.com weather app)
Even in simple things like cooking sweet potato slices, Professor @monsoon0.bsky.social has ruined me because now I see mathematical packing problems. This involves not just fitting the correct amount of sweet potato to the pan surface but also applying heat evenly to them.. 🤔😃
Facebook threw up a photo of Lizzie the greyhound (currently being very subdued with her foot injury) when we got her 5 years ago.. She had been a kennel dog all her (racing) life before being rehomed as a rescue.
The Red Hat building in North Sydney is very shiny and reflective..
I am in North Sydney for the first time I can recall and it’s pretty interesting looking at the architecture (tall buildings) and amenities (coffee shops) around Miller St.. 🤔
Walking the dog and it’s great to see nature working harmoniously with EVs @sydneyev.bsky.social 🤣
Interesting flight of 3 ADF choppers over #Wollongong this evening. Came from the West and headed Southeast. You sorta know they are ADF because they have large holes (open doors) right in the middle.. Salt the iPhone camera isn’t that great on zoom..
I rescued this light fitting from a bin, dismantled and scrapped the metal into recycling but saved the glass because tea kettle candles (oddly enough) perfectly fit into them.. It’s a little odd as a candle holder but it does work..
I was just reading a magazine I picked up.. from an op shop. It was dated March 2010..
@rami.spaceaustralia.com You can see “dust” as a layer in the windy.com app.. And then you can also see where the wind is taking it..
Weather radar (windy.com) says “there will be heavy rain soon!” No kidding.. Looks like it will rain hard for quite a while so good time to get off the road etc.. #Wollongong
The silver and gold forums are a little nuts right now. If you’re following silver in particular.. it’s about to pass A$150 a troy ounce for the first time. It’s already set a record by passing US$100/ozt. An increase of around 180% in a year.
I was hoping there would be a break in the weather so as to feed the dog.. and make sure the chickens are in for the night - but it’s not happening. It’s very wet on the NSW South Coast and #Wollongong. BoM says 60mm between 12am and 9am and 45mm since.. So over 100mm in a day!
Geez, it really has taken a toll on Brendon Mcullum who looks terrible here.. #Ashes
Coming from Brisbane.. I’ve asked partner why exactly we moved to somewhere that is *hotter*.. It is 10C cooler in Brisbane today.. Me: “We moved South to get away from the cold Brisbane summers??” Her: “Shush!”
