Final line on Jackson Jobe's rehab start for High-A West Michigan: 4 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 5 K 69 pitches, 44 strikes, 10 whiffs At least 3 pitches at 100 mph, per West Michigan broadcast, topping out at 100.4.
Here's what A.J. Hinch told reporters, including colleague Theo DeRosa, today in West Sacramento when asked about Jobe's potential return:
Jackson Jobe, wearing the Michigan Snowbirds jersey in his rehab start for High-A West Michigan, is back at it. His fastball topped out at 100 mph in scoreless first inning today. Could he slot into Tigers rotation shortly with Tarik Skubal traded and Casey Mize likely to follow?
River Ryan Statcast breakdown over 8 starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, his first season back from Tommy John surgery (he hasn't pitched since June 17 due to hamstring strain):
Max Clark’s MLB debut is an impressive one. Tigers 13, Athletics 1 Scorebook, late night edition:

To round out Tigers’ 125th season celebration weekend, Mark Fidrych’s grandson threw out the ceremonial first pitch today, 50 years after The Bird’s incredible rookie season captivated the country. Fidrych passed away in 2009 at age 54, but remains a huge part of Tigers history.
As part of Tigers’ 125th anniversary celebration, Jeremy Bonderman and Nate Robertson threw ceremonial first pitches to Jamie Walker and Kenny Rogers. Justin Verlander and Royals coaches Marcus Thames and Vance Wilson joined in for a photo.

To celebrate Hall of Fame weekend, Tigers are wearing these throwback caps tonight thru Sunday. This was their primary look from 1918 to 1920.
Tarik Skubal starts tonight, and Tigers are on over-the-air TV for the first time since early June. Here’s a list of the stations that will have Tigers-Royals tonight with a 6:40 first pitch:
Tigers rally for 4-3 win over Royals, their 5th win in 7 games out of the All-Star break. They're four games out of a Wild Card spot and six games back in the AL Central.
Used to seeing throws like this from Gold Glove catcher Dillon Dingler. Not used to seeing those throws getting a runner going back to 2B. It's a 2-4 pickoff that gets Drew Sommers out of a jam.
Hao-Yu Lee's pinch-hit single is the type of hit Tigers fans were used to seeing runners sent rounding 3B. But if you watch the replay, you'll notice Kevin McGonigle got getting a great read on the hit. In fact, he briefly broke back towards 2B before the ball fell.
Tigers-Cubs will not start on time due to impending weather (rain, not air quality)
If Derek Hill is playing center field at Comerica Park for anybody, you know you're getting one of these catches.
Early batting practice at Comerica Park for Kyle Schwarber includes some Home Run Derby practice swings. Hasn’t put any on the RF porch … yet. But he got Tarik Skubal out of the Tigers clubhouse for some good-natured chatter.
Tigers beat Phillies, 10-2. They've won 6 in a row, 9 of their last 10 and are an AL-best 22-12 since June 1.
Kevin McGonigle goes oppo against his hometown team for a go-ahead 2-run HR.
Former Tiger Derek Hill, a last-minute addition to Phillies starting lineup after Justin Crawford was scratched, homers to the deepest part of his old home park.
Jake Rogers has homered in back-to-back games, his first home-run streak since Sept. 17-18, 2023, during his 21-homer season.
Jackson Jobe allowed a run on 2 hits over 1 1/3 innings with a K in his first rehab start tonight for Single-A Lakeland. 32 pitches, 24 strikes. He threw two fastballs at 100.2 mph.
Don't expect a drastic shift in Tigers' baserunning aggressiveness with Joey Cora out and Billy Boyer in as 3B coach, per manager A.J. Hinch:
Tigers complete their first series sweep at Yankee Stadium since 2008 with a 6-2 win in 11 innings. Keider Montero struck out three over two scoreless innings of relief for the win.
