Dad achievement unlocked: the kiddo (nearly 10 now) is gaining interest in cooking, and after sampling risotto recently, asked if I would cook some. I agreed to, but only if she’d help. Behold: sweet corn risotto with red pepper and prosciutto. It rocked — and it’s a lot easier to make with 2 people
The complete list of LA Dodgers throwing complete games against the Yankees — all World Series prior to Yamamoto today — is full of good company, including the only other Dodger besides Hooton to throw a CG in the Bronx. www.sports-reference.com/stathead/tin...
Wow, the pitchers look like real people instead of pixels with my new iPhone 17 camera.
We are richer for having lost Lindsey Graham, who can keep a seat in Hell warm for Mitch McConnell
Forgot they were selling these again. Hadn’t eaten one in 40+ years until my wife bought me one at the P-town candy shop where our kid loads up for months. Not a bad candy bar, but they never had the ratios right — too much caramel made chewing it kinda tedious. Like Reggie at times, actually.
Slipped while coming down the stairs to bed last night and broke my right pinky toe. Limped though my final day on the Cape but took the kiddo kayaking on Flax Pond and watched a pod of seals an about 20 yards for a couple hours at Newcomb Hollow Beach.
The imp in the horizontal stripes, approximately 104 pounds of entropy and ham stuffed into a 52-pound body, did not disappoint
Just spent an hour at the beach partially detangling $2 worth of kite string, this goes in next year’s Father’s Day thread. Worth every minute of cursing the string.
Verlander is 18th in S-JAWS all-time and will finish ahead of Kershaw, Greinke, and Scherzer — higher than any other pitcher who has retired since 2009 (Pedro and the Big Unit) — in part because he also threw the most innings of that cohort. Damn impressive career.
The gals’ father (one of my dad’s best friends) passed away in Feb, hence the scans
Did I share this pic of us that I unearthed earlier this year? Had to be the same visit
Bad night for our next door neighbor’s tree. No injuries, thankfully, but understandably freaked out our pet-sitter (we’re up here in comparatively cooler Wellfleet)
Very fond memories of when i took my daughter (then almost 3) to Fort Greene Park playground, where a woman came by and asked if kids wanted to meet an owl at the public library.
It’s officially summer the moment we pull into the parking lot here in Mystic
