On a follow-the-river (or brook, as we call them in NL) hike on Tuesday. This brook (Broad Cove Brook) was our favourite place for swimming when I was growing up here in the 70’s and 80’s. No indoor pools in rural (outport) Newfoundland. Water temps are a smidge above “numb”. #hike #waterfall

Yes it was and is surreal. I was out there yesterday…my dad was moving back home (Blackhead) after a long restoration related to smoke damage. The ice covered trees made for an interesting contrast with the black ground.

I don’t, but I have some from this area. This area has much less species diversity than Mistaken Point because it’s from after 550 million years when a mass extinction occurred. Here‘s a pic from my recent hike in this area.
