Like in the video, it was strangely quiet. The rest of the giant mall also seems to by struggling, but the Sears was the most quiet of all the stores.
Upstairs is a normal department store. Downstairs is a nice retail space but filled with boxed appliances like a warehouse. Though clean and neat. One young man was sitting quietly at a register. People were passing through, but not much purchasing. I bought shorts and a tee shirt for cheap!
To their credit, they seem to have fixed the phrasing on their website. Thank you DMV!
I know it's not the worst thing in the world right now...but if a design has been out for ten years, you can maybe stop calling it 'new' on your website RI-DMV. Also...this consent disclosure phrasing always makes me think too hard. I know I should check 'no', but it takes a minute to get there.
My rubber tree is spending the summer outside to catch some rays. It has made a new dragon fly friend!
Q for my Gen X and Boomer friends. Do any of you remember Canada catching on fire and blotting out our sun in earlier times? I know it happened a couple years ago. But I don't remember it happening before then.
Before I turned the sound on I was sure you were referencing this fancy prep school somehow
If only there were an alternative college model where the knowledge was the reward rather than the grade....
I was told milkweed would attract monarchs. What's up with these boring old bees?
Mine puts the 'hydra' in hydrangea. I had it down to 2 feet tall in the fall.
One thing I've gotten used to this past few years in my neighborhood are the many birds who wake me up at dawn with their ruckus as the solstice approaches. This year....nothing 🙄
This one took place about 15 years ago in Rhode Island. I've never understood why they didn't get fined for air quality violations.
This @thepvdeye.bsky.social story is wild. Long story short: "contaminated" recycling loads are a problem for the state recycling center. Most Prov. neighborhoods have so many non-recyclables in their recycling bin that the city doesn't even bother to check the trucks... pvdeye.org/a-recycling-...
..that should make everyone's blood boil 👿. I already knew that lots of our recycling was rejected b/c people are putting the wrong things in the recycling bins. I had thought this meant lots of loads of recycling were being rejected at RIRRC, but no...it's stupider than that....
Thank you to @thepvdeye.bsky.social for sponsoring the tour of RI Resource Recovery Center today. And for your great article - pvdeye.org/recycling-th... I learned a lot! Having read the article, I already knew my city stinks at recycling...but I learned learned something...
Tomorrow's horoscope AND weather report. How much more evidence do you need that this stuff is real??
This was an amazing thread! I'm also fascinated that your teen rebellion was to fight against the substance that made your city famous.
I'm feeling pretty good about my gold star (green tag) for recycling properly. I feel less good that half my neighbors got red tagged. @thepvdeye.bsky.social says only 3% of our stuff gets recycled. The rest is rejected at the landfill b/c mixed w/ non-recyclables pvdeye.org/recycling-ra...
