I just realized that in 5 years none of my elder caregiver friends discuss when an elder says to you, I want to die. And what did they say or do? Chatting it up with friends now.

Ok so we elder care givers probably don't talk about this. Elders express they don't want to live anymore.
PCP put it this way, even elders not suffering depression want to die. It can't be dismissed as they are just depressed and drugs/counseling will reinspire a will to live. This is not a realm of yoga, eat healthy, positive thinking.

So what do you say and do?

Choice of death is sacred to me. I've heard I want to die many times over 5 years. From a teen, I heard of the Terry Schiavo case of brain death and kept alive. And I knew, fuck those courts or anyone who tries to shame me for it.

My response with empathy:
1) You have a right to die as you want.
2) You have an AD refusing life sustaining procedures.
3) if you tell your PCP, "I want to die. I refuse to eat or drink," he will get you hospice care.
4) it is painless. Nurses will care for you and give you strong pain relievers.
5) this is a big decision. You have know for sure.
6) Do you want to talk to a therapist about it? (She said yes, but not with me. Good! Seeing a therapist is good no matter what the outcomes!)

Now let's get this move done, and we can see how things go. Getting a death and elder therapist specialist is hard as fuck. It's gonna take a while.

This is the funniest shit ever about recruiting Platner. You are a historical figure leading a revolution.

They knew his name from local labor organizers and activists, and they had watched a video on the internet of him talking about oysters. Struck by his left-leaning ideology, his working-class affect and his gravelly voice, they became convinced that he could win a Senate seat in Maine - and quickly persuaded Mr. Platner of the same.

The initial headhunters, Dan Moraff and Leanne Fan, and then a third out-of-state operative they called up to Maine - Morris Katz — told Mr. Platner he was "the one," a
"hero of the movement, "a historical figure" who could be "leading a revolution," according to half a dozen people with knowledge of their conversations.

And, for what? A meek, unassertive young lady who dated Platner a few times who made the mistake of allowing an obviously drunken man inside her house where she allowed him to rape her.

She didn't convey she physically fought him; tried to get away; reported the rape to police; nor had a rape kit completed at a hospital. In fact, she barely said anything to anyone about the rape.

But yesterday, the Maine Democratic Party said that our movement will "have no role in determining our next Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, nor in determining what this process looks like." Instead, under their watch and direction, they allowed the DC-based Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to send staffers to plan a potential nominating process behind closed doors.

Both the state and national parties cut our team, our volunteers, and our vast networks of supporters out of the conversation completely.

We firmly believe that the supporters and volunteers who built this movement deserve to have a real role in any nomination process.

If the Maine Democratic Party hopes to harness our movement, and avoid disillusioning the hundreds of thousands of supporters who came into the fray because of our movement's policies, it must consult the feedback and proposals of the people who built and sustained this.

SURJ rescinds our endorsement of Graham Platner and calls on him to withdraw from the Maine Senate race before next week's deadline. Allegations of sexual violence demand accountability, and survivors must be taken seriously.

The vision of solidarity that inspired so many Mainers remains bigger than any one candidate. We urge the Maine Democratic Party to nominate a replacement who shares our movement's commitment to working people, ending ICE terror, affordable housing, labor rights, and a multiracial democracy.

I thought some might want to know what Chris Crass, white anti-racism organizer, posted about Platner on FB.

I have supported Graham Platner from the first time I heard him talking with working class white people about immigration and divide and control tactics of the ruling elites.

I have talked with half a dozen friends of mine - all longtime social justice activists and mostly women - who are friends with him and his wife.

People I have know for decades, who have directly been part of social justice communities in Maine, where Platner came up as a committed progressive organizer.

I have been engaging with people around the country about the significant of the Platner campaign as a leading edge working class, progressive power building effort.
That the Platner campaign in substance, style, and culture, is directly challenging the right wing's claim to speak for working class white communities, and working class white men, in particular.

That the Platner campaign, with Ben Chin as the campaign manager, and other skilled and experienced movement organizers involved, is truly building up progressive working class leadership, culture, and institutions.

That the Platner campaign is, yes, about a candidate, but it is also profoundly and opportunity to build and advance the progressive left in rural communities, working class communities and other communities, that are quite frankly despised by far too many middle and upper class liberals.

Not despised as abstract categories for electoral math, but despised as actual people.

I knew that as the Platner campaign gained momentum, liberal elites who hate poor and working class people, would come out of the wood work to denounce the campaign.

I have been organizing for over 35 years to build up powerful, working class-based, multiracial, feminist movements for collective liberation.

I have actively recruited, supported, developed the leadership of folks who have done and said really problematic things. Folks who were racist, misogynistic, homophobic. Folks with "messy histories".

I want millions of white people, in particular, who have voted right wing, who have held hateful views. White people, who have done - like me - stupid things in their lives, that they're learning from.

I recognize that in many cases, it was right wing and racist forces that actually went to organize many white communities. Created political homes that welcomed them, supported them, developed them.
And far too often, white anti-racists then turned their backs on white people and white communities, leaving them to be devoured/organized by the racist right.

I want more and more political homes and welcoming cultures, for millions of people, of all backgrounds, to be organized into racial, gender, and economic justice.

I want political homes for people with problematic backgrounds and many a mistake, who have devoted themselves to learning and growing and being part of positive change. Who have receipts of doing real work to make amends, get in right relationship, and make contributions - like Platner.

I am committed to building political homes for men, and white men specifically, to be in it for multiracial feminist democracy.I am committed to working alongside the countless leaders, unions, community groups, and friends - white and BIPOC - in Maine who understand what the Platner campaign is.

Yes, there's a candidate named Graham Platner, but really it's a fighting chance.

A fighting chance to build durable governing, progressive power, with working class people at the center of it. A working class agenda and campaign, for multiracial feminist democratic values and commitments.

No idea who Rob Korobkin is, but this answers who recruited Platner.

As I see it, however, Morris is still very much an integral part of today's Big Blue Machine. He's just a different component within the same national contraption. The Democratic Party, like any political party or legislature, is a big tent, an arena, containing myriad factions and interests, some of which are more powerful than others, yet all of which are integral parts of it. Chuck's one part. Morris is another. Chuck's also 75. Morris is 26. Unless something shocking happens, which it certainly might, the torch will probably pass before too long.

It's easy to hate on this dynamic. How antiestablishment can a candidate really be when the only reason they're in the race, in the first place, is because the likely new scion of the Democratic establishment came up and recruited him? The story that Graham is a totally independent outsider, standing on his own two feet against the elite power brokers in DC was never totally true. I think that it's equally accurate to see Graham as a soldier in a proxy battle, enlisted by one side of a national civil war over the future of the national party.

That said, I was in DC a couple months ago, and I caught up with a friend who's been part of Democratic Party politics at the national level for years now. We got to talking about Platner, and I asked him what he thought. He thinks Platner's great.
In his eyes, Morris and the Fight Agency did the people of Maine a solid. We should be

The WSJ called me Friday morning to tell me they were running a story they had verified through multiple sources. I had spoken with them months ago off the record, so it was a courtesy call I'd probably still get some blowback.

After WSJ reached out to the Platner campaign for comment, Morris Katz demanded that I call the WSJ, retract my comments, tell them their reporting was inaccurate and send him a recording of the call.

When I refused to lie for the Platner campaign he sent this text: "Just want to be clear on where we are right now. If the story goes in its current iteration we'll communicate directly on the record, and by name, that Genevieve violated the personal trust of Amy and Graham and shared explicit falsehoods to sabotage the campaign."

So I went on record with the NYTs.

I think you can look at relationships - 1 can look at relationships I have personally witnessed, and heard about from my female friends! - and see that they are not coercive

My best friend seduced two of her professors. Did they commit an ethical breach by going with it? Absolutely. Did she go in with that intent? She absolutely did, she told me, she enjoyed the affair.
If I told her she was coerced she'd laugh in my face; it was her idea and her initiative.
That's an extreme example but clearly they aren't 100% coercive.

Her: History is replete with examples of slaves saying the same about their masters. That's an extreme way of framing it, but I'm trying to point out that coercive frameworks can still function like that

Occupy Dems and resist accounts are really what kicked off women saying WS fucked anti-ICE actions. His fault? Maybe not but "this isn't really happening anymore" (in Minneapolis) is a dubious.

BREAKING: HERO! Former Democratic candidate Will Stancil reveals that he helped run an anti-ICE honeypot operation in which local girls on Tinder would get information about ICE attacks from horny agents and then would send the messages to their wives when they got caught!

"Okay this isn't really happening anymore so I can tell you how I had 'internal ICE sources'" wrote the local anti-ICE activist and prominent resistance member on BlueSky.
"The 3000 very stir-crazy ICE agents were all going wild on Minneapolis Tinder. Local girls would match with them and string them along for intel. They loved to brag about what they were doing all day!"

"They'd send live videos of raids, tell them where they were staying, and generally dump tons of operational information out to any girl who'd pretend to be impressed by it."

"My friend who did this would wait until her cover was blown, find the guys' wives in Texas or wherever, and forward them a history of the messages!"
Stancil made a name for himself as one of the most dedicated anti-ICE operatives in Minnesota, spending his days tailing ICE agents and sounding the alarm when raids were about to happen.

Not all heroes wear capes, folks. It's the work of people like Stancil and his anonymous female friends who helped drive ICE out of Minnesota, derailed their operation, and protected countless immigrants and Americans from the brutality of Trump's goon squad.

This needs to be turned into a movie after this is all over!

I actually built futuresurprises.com for a similar reason. Basically allows you to automate your gift giving for all occasions for anyone you care about.
