It’s very efficient how parched plants direct water straight to their roots through wilting their leaves. Less surface area for transpiration but also a convenient funnel shape.
Well well well, a little self-forgiveness in the reading 8 books or more and never finish any chaos strategy pays off. This particular one is forgiving in that it’s short stories and also extremely fucking good. Will not be giving this one away it makes the keep pile….
Well my bouquet of beets have yielded approx 20mins of mindful peeling, 10 mins of leaf washing and picking, a lot of stalks (which I composted), and this small jar of pickle. Leaves are wilted for freezer or something else tomorrow
Esa! Sometimes my tortillas are a mess but not this time. 💃🏻. I did my beet leaves separately in case a child might deign to eat any of it.
Behold, #gardensky, what springtime frenzy followed by weeks of diligent neglect can produce! Is there a #recipesky for beet leaves? I might make a mega frittata if no one comes back with a better suggestion.
I have never, before tonight seen a badger, but lo and behold here one is at the Oxford Food Symposium in St Cats
He was quite suspicious about it as it was cold, but drank it in the end. I have also switched to kitten food as he was crunching kibble in half and leaving bits. Bloody cats. Love them too much.
Up like a lark to the forty foot before the hoards arrive. There were rumours of jellyfish but nary sting was stung.
Teasels are a gift. Snatched on a walk and fucked at the ground. Look at their orbits for bees. Stunning 🤩
I feel very intrusive of these tiny creatures domestic lives, they have made their nest here and I have discovered, disturbed and filmed it. I also really want to know what the inside of the welly is like. Do they have little structures like honey bees? Nest material? I am entomologically ignorant.
Sligo train is having a robot blip. Someone somewhere has pressed the wrong button
This is my crow friend who used to live on Parkgate Street. Good beak for picking locks on wheelie bins
The verdict? Oddly delicious. In a chips in your milkshake kind of way. And also not unlike prawn cocktail without the prawn. 6.5/10. Would certainly consume over many flavours of extruded cornstarch.
Had a tour of NCAD today with the Co-Create project. Makers and thinkers and doers. Next life I’m coming back as an art student.
Had an interesting breakfast today where we were asked to think of ourselves as guests and hosts and here is my self portrait as a community garden organiser. It drew on the context of ghost(is) and hospitality and hostility that we were discussing
Robins have been nesting on top of our ancient electricity box right outside our front door. Can’t believe we didn’t notice them!!!
Sudden realisation that my favourite colours (dusky pink and teal/sage) are a riff on my cats eyes and nose
