Wow. That old Twitter energy really brings me back. The tags are fantastic. I'd say they likely have better things to do than get involved in this, but since they aren't doing much to meaningfully oppose Trump I suppose I shouldn't assume. Maybe they'll write me a strongly worded letter.
More black and brown progressive candidates are on the way and centrists are terrified by this. And how do they respond? By trotting out the problematic progressive strawman of course. Yes, every group has bad actors, but clearly centrists have way more of them and progressives have way less.
Of course, "The Squad" getting elected in 2018 dramatically symbolized the demographic make up of progressives. It was initially all WOC then - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib. More WOC followed in 2020 along with some MOC.
We saw this in the 2020 campaign too. Sanders' base was majority women. Indeed, he was the only candidate who could say that. Likewise, his base was the least white.
I see centrists are reusing the discredited “white Bernie Bro” charge against lefties again - despite the fact that the left’s candidates and voters are overwhelmingly women and POC. This has always been the case because these groups want the progressive policies lefties advocate. From April 2017:
One way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday would be to read my chapter on how some of the founders had favored economic equality. It’s free on my blog: conservatismisun-american.blogspot.com/2020/12/why-...
My head jumped to another comparison, but all three abstract designs seem pretty cool to me.
Apparently there's a furniture design convention and/or exposition that should seriously consider a name change.
Rewatching Rushmore for the first time since I saw it in the theater back in 1998. It’s unexpectedly timely.
I keep seeing think pieces on the irony of billionaire businessman Tom Steyer being the progressive champion in the California Governor race, but all I can think of is this meme.
Apparently Apple isn’t any better about product testing than any other company. This soundtrack is of course one album, but the Recently Added screen on my iPhone broke it into three.
People often forget how Trump-like Reagan's administration was. It's almost as if corruption is in the modern GOP's DNA. Reagan-admiring centrists seem especially forgetful. (Signe Wilkinson political cartoon from 1984)
Not *every* principle. It faithfully applied “Move fast and break things.”
