On the last day of my vacation, I’ve done something that I hadn’t been able to do in the decade since we bought this place: actually listen to records in my record room. Gone through albums by Curtis Mayfield and Eddie Harris, and a few random singles/45s. And the Breakin 2 soundtrack.
I’m telling my grandkids this is Your Old Droog, Sadhugold, Mach-Hommy, and Tha God Fahim.
So this is kinda dope. My parents just found this in one of their storage spaces. It was from a pretty huge protest in New Haven, almost 55 years ago, over the arrest and imprisonment of nine Black Panthers aka The New Haven Nine. They’re going to get in framed.
When I think about the stuff growing that shaped my imagination and who I am, it includes the Star Wars films, Star Wars comics, hip-hop, and probably the OG comic run of GI Joe. So getting this compendium was kind of a no brainer. Spent so many hours poring over these over the years.
