Wildfire smoke always feels to me like a reverse solar eclipse in the sense that it messes with some primordial sense of rhythm and time — it’s golden hour at 9:20am. But unlike an eclipse, which is awe-inspiring and cosmic, it’s like the natural world can sense something is ominous and wrong.
Kind of a, uh, bittersweet counternarrative in @nature.com today via Climate Impact Lab: "In areas like Nigeria & the DRC—today’s malaria hotbeds—climate change could decrease malaria cases by just as much as eradication efforts such as bed nets and antimalaria drugs have in these countries today."
