Films, music, beer, pretending I have a sense of humour by quoting The Simpsons he/him
Tonight's film, which I didn't realise how much my teenage self had imprinted upon
Haven't done this in a while, and I've gotten over my immediate rage spike at the idea of Letterboxd selling out to Netflix, so here we go. #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday
When you can tell which item you can interact with, and which are just background dressing
This session of the Spanish Film Festival film SUNDAYS is sold out, proving once again that people love the cinema.
Yesss, THE BLUE TRAIL is finally getting a release? One of the trippiest and coolest films I saw at *last year's* #sydfilmfest
Next we have my final feature, and my final film in the State for this year. It's Palme d'Or-winner FJORD. #sydfilmfest
It is the final day of #sydfilmfest, which I greet with a complex combination of sadness, exhaustion and relief. I have 12 films for the final day (if you count the Dendy short films as individual films, which I do). Starting with two award-winning features though. First up THE DREAMED ADVENTURE.
Two more films to go tonight. To make up for missing the Freak Me Out film last week (the projector broke!), I'm seeing Indonesian horror film GHOST IN THE CELL, and its accompanying short TELE XXX #sydfilmfest
I'm not sure what to make of my next #sydfilmfest film, IF PIGEONS TURNED TO GOLD, from the description, but it's about alcoholism, and I just had lunch at a brewery so maybe it will speak to me.
With a relatively quick turnaround we have the new Andrey Zvagintsev film, the next film in the Official Competition #sydfilmfest
Off to #sydfilmfest again today, and I'm starting to feel the exhaustion. Not least because I have 6 films over 14 hours today. First up is FATHERLAND
Just two films on the agenda for #sydfilmfest today, starting with BEN'IMANA.
I have had a lovely break eating some Korean chicken and drinking some very good beer. Now it's time to hit up my favourite Iranian director's new film: BLACK RABBIT WHITE RABBIT. #sydfilmfest
I'm having a break between films at what is long still my favourite bar in Sydney, with some early shoegaze on the stereo. #sydfilmfest
PARALLEL TALES was honestly just the kind of film I like: a cleverly crafted script built on real human relationships, with metafiction and conflicting views of reality. Good stuff. #sydfilmfest
But I'm back in the city for three films today, starting with THE SEOUL GUARDIANS. #sydfilmfest
Next film is the new one from Koreeda Hirokazu: SHEEP IN THE BOX. #sydfilmfest
My next film is a left-field pick that I think I picked based on the promo images, but it genuinely sounds very cool: PHENOMENA #sydfilmfest
