Republican members of Congress have continued a multiyear decline in in-person town halls, reaching a record low through the first half of 2026.
Republicans have held just 39 in-person town halls so far this year, the fewest through the first half of any year in LegiStorm's records. Republicans held 122 in-person town halls during the first half of 2025 and 229 during the same period in 2024. Overall, Republican lawmakers have held 234 town halls between Jan. 1 and July 1, compared with 378 during the same period in 2025 and 309 in 2024. In-person events accounted for 17% of Republican town halls, compared with 32% in 2025 and 74% in 2024.
The multiyear decline continued after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) urged Republican lawmakers in March 2025 to avoid in-person town halls following several contentious events. Since then, Republican members have held 231 in-person town halls, compared with 1,042 held by Democrats.
Democrats have maintained a relatively consistent share of in-person town halls in recent years despite lower overall activity in 2026. Democrats have held 451 town halls through the first half of the year, following an active first half of 2025 that saw 924 total town halls and a quieter first half of 2024, which saw 214. Despite those fluctuations in overall activity, in-person events have continued to account for a majority of Democratic town halls, representing 66% of events this year, compared with 64% in 2025 and 58% in 2024.

But here's where Fitzpatrick is getting some of his cash (he uses, btw, to fund his attack ads he's running against Harvie):

Here's the letter I got from #BucksCounty in Nov 2024, notifying me that GOP Yass-man State Senator Jarrett Coleman was trying to get my legal mail ballot thrown out, just days before the election. Thanks to Darren Laustsen for reporting his observations on the 2026 SS District 16 GOP dirty tricks.

This is the November 5, 2024 letter I got from Bucks County PA Board of Elections/Registration on "bulk challenges" to federal absentee voters like me, flung by GOP PA State Senate District's Jarrett Coleman. Coleman posted his challenges just mere days before that election, leaving little response time. Luckily, my vote was preserved, and in early 2025, the Bucks County Commissioners stopped that kind of hasty, sloppy challenge going forward. Jarrett Coleman is a MAGA puppet, and the shared property of PA billionaire Jeff Yass.

This is interesting: No Labels, the group that lavishly funds Brian Fitzpatrick's #PA01 campaigns, is backing the competing ACA legislation brought forward by Reps Gottheimer + Kiggans. And Fitz a no-show on their ACA leader list🤔 No mention of Fitzpatrick's bill *anywhere* in their X feed!
