I have a bunch of Tin Tin magazine collections, but I really have never gone into the covers Rosinski did for these whenever Thorgal was featured in them. Lot of cool alternates to contrast the actual book covers.
Mulling it over the other day, I came to realize what makes this book so damn good. Alinoë is basically a Sam Raimi horror film in a viking setting, with a small cast trapped in a secluded space facing off against a terrifying and unstoppable force. I mean, LOOK at how TinTin mag advertised it!
Presenting: the Beautiful Beasts imprint, a series of erotic horror, science fiction and fantasy novellas by author Joachim Heijndermans. Each a self contained story of lust and love with monsters Books 1, 2 and 3 are out now, with 4 out in Sep. Art Man Carot and Andrea Iula.

Book 32: The battle of Asgard. This book is…rough. It feels very disingenuous, with low stakes and a silly mood. Also, the Norse pantheon had been this invisible force up until know, with only Frigg and some valkyries showing up on the page. Now they're full on characters, which loses its mystique.
Book 31: The Shield of Thor. It has some good parts, as Jolan continues on his Norse Precy Jackson adventure. What I don't like is the whole 'Thorgal's son Aniel is the reincarnated spirit of an evil wizard' storyline, which bloats into a whole thing...

Book 30: I, Jolan. The first with new writer Yves Sente. It's a bit of a rough start, but I applaud it for letting Jolan be the central character. He and three other plucky teens with powers must perform tasks for Dr. Doom. Has a very 'Percy Jackson goes Asgard' feel to it.
Briefly discussing comic book to film adaptations at home, I mentioned I'm a bit more fluid towards the idea. In some cases it can work. In other cases the comic work being a comic gives it its strength, and adaptation wouldn't add much. Asterios Polyp by Dave Mazzucchelli is such a comic.
Hello. Throwing my hat in the ring with some recent spooky stuff I've done. I'm a trained narrative artist who's had to put comics on the backburner for a while, finally getting back into the art game.

Book 29: The Sacrifice. The last story with van Hamme as writer. It's written like an ending, with the family returning home while Thorgal and Jolan face a challenge by Odin and needing a mage (Dr Doom?) to save Thorgal…but at the cost of Jolan becoming his apprentice.
Book 28: Kriss de Valnor. A slight improvement, with Kriss back in play. Thorgal is sadly a bit player here (and in a coma at the end). But Kriss and Aaricia's growing respect (despite Kriss having had a son with Thorgal during his amnesia days) is interesting.
Book 27: the Barbarian. Another dud, sadly. And it's too bad, as Thorgal coming across the last vestiges of the Roman empire is interesting. But it's very slow, with an annoyingly uninteresting antagonist and grim abuse of the new female cast member and her brother.
Rosinski is a master painter, having done paintings for all the covers of Thorgal (you can see the fabric of his canvas on some of them), and still paints to this day. He did a cover for the Hobbit as well.
Also, a series that has so far shown laser pistols and laser TRIDENTS now adds an anti-gravity belt……and it looks so silly. Also, I feel by this point Rosinski was losing interest in pencils and ink, as he and van Hamme had done 'Western' by this point, a fully painted comic.
Book 26: The Kingdom Under the Sand. This is the one. The one really bad one by the van Hamme & Rosinski team. It's set up is clumsy. The sudden reappearance of Thorgal's people (finally confirmed as hailing from Atlantis) is uninteresting. And the supposed dramatic climax is just silly.
Book 25: The Blue Disease. I'm torn on this book. There's some great parts (Thorgal's duel with the pygmy warrior). There's some dumb parts. There's scary parts. There's grim parts, especially with people suffering from a disease so painful they beg for death from practicing archers.
Book 24: Arachnea. Thorgal and Louve are separated from the rest on a greco-like island, who sacrifice your men to the spider goddess arachnea. Lot of horror elements, with some cultists and a Theseus vs minotaur vibes. Pretty good, if not a bit silly at times.
