I was surprised and very honored last night to win the 2026 Guides Association of NYC "Outstanding Achievement in NYC Photography" award for my New Year’s shot of lightning hitting the Empire State Building.
About 11" in a Beacon backyard as of now. This was on the north side of the house and in an area I had shovelled down to grass before the storm #nywx
Icy Fishkill Creek at the falls in Beacon, NY this afternoon #nywx

Worst #tsapre experience ever at 6am at Terminal 4 JFK. Almost an hour to get through, got marched down a flight of stairs and still had to take my shoes off.
A few highlights from yesterday's Idiotarod NYC. Full set on my Instagram at jhuntingtonnyc
I moved to Long Island City back in February, and have gone out to Gantry park every storm we had this year, but could not get a decent shot of #lightning hitting the Empire State Building. I was too lazy tonight to go out in the rain so I shot from inside, and finally got a shot! #nywx #nyc
Found a #snowyowl on Staten Island today. I found the location on my own, and when I stumbled onto the location there were about a dozen respectful bird watchers there. It only glanced in our direction a couple times when I got these shots with a 400mm lens and then a fair bit of post processing.
#sunset over the ocean from Robert Moses State park this evening on Long Island
#snowyowl yesterday before sunset near Oak Beach jetty sitting on top of an empty Osprey (I think) nest. Mostly looking around but did rearrange some sticks in the nest. Flew off after dark. Shot with 1200mm lens from behind a row of trees 100 yards or so away. Stills: bsky.app/profile/jhun...

Super hazy in #nyc from all the nearby wildfires. Fortunately we should finally get some rain tomorrow night.
12 years ago today in Rockaway Beach, Queens, at the high tide before the landfall of #hurricane #Sandy, looking west/northwest across the mouth of Jamaica Bay towards the Marine Parkway Bridge
Pretty #foliage looking north to the Catskills from my bike ride in Minnewaska State park today.
With so many people finally coming over from the hellsite, I thought I'd start posting here more. Here's the moon rise last night over Long Island City
Took the real camera (Nikon Z8 with 600mm lens) out tonight to see the comet. I was not able to make it out with naked eye but found a dark-ish spot in the hills up about Pigeon Forge, TN to shoot. Start heading home to NYC tomorrow
