🎮 Cozy game review: WAX HEADS #CozyGames #CozyGamers #CosyGames

WAX HEADS IS A NARRATIVE COZY GAME WHERE YOU WORK AT A STRUGGLING RECORD STORE.
THE GAME IS PUNK, IT'S QUEER, ITS SOUNDTRACK IS SHOCKINGLY AWESOME, AND IT MADE ME CARE.

Three characters from the game: one is a middle-aged guy with wide shoulders and whiskers, another is a woman with grey hair and the third is a young queer woman saying “(REALLY CUTE girl behind me, okay?)”

WAX HEADS is a narrative cozy game where you play as an employee at a struggling record store called Repeater Records, owned by a former 80s rock legend. You help customers pick out albums depending on their requests and do various little puzzles. The game is punk and queer and wonderful. It’s vocally anti-AI—it’s even a part of the storyline. I adore the comic bookish art style. (I might just be a sucker for anything hand-drawn.) The soundtrack is legitimately great. Like, shockingly so. The banter between the employees at the store is laugh-out-loud funny.

This game made me want to get emotionally invested in music again—I haven’t felt that way in years. (I got a tattoo of headphones inside my right wrist when I was in college because music was a big part of my life then. Not so much anymore.) It also made me want to finally make a zine, something I’ve never tried but always kind of thought I was too old to do— which is really silly, I know.

Yeah, Wax Heads is really great, big fan. I played it on the Nintendo Switch 2 but I believe it’s available on all major consoles. It was released in early May 2026. And I can’t believe more cozy gamers aren’t talking about it.

Just finished this DEEEEELIGHTFUL contemporary romance. Looooved it. Retelling of You’ve Got Mail, enemies to friends to lovers, reverse grumpy sunshine, bookworm leads. Laugh-out-loud funny, touching, amusingly self-aware. I definitely need more bookstore romances now. #romancelandia #booksky
