This is THE single most annoying thing about Android. Randomly turns volume to inaudible, meaning you have to get phone out of pocket and rewind whatever you're listening to. If I didn't need it at that level I wouldn't have it at that level! Impossible to turn off, even with developer options.
Just reading @doctorow.pluralistic.net's latest, which - as usual - is the most pithy, witty, accurate, fair, essential and impeccably-argued piece of tech industry criticism you're likely to read this year. So do.
Marbled white butterfly. They're hard to snap on a phone because they flit about so much but managed to catch this one on a thistle.
New album from @boardsofcanada.bsky.social is absolutely amazing and well worth the 13-year wait! Absolutely f'kin outrageous that Trump nicked one of the tracks for a promo video yesterday though. Hope they sue him for a shitload: pitchfork.com/news/boards-...
Just spinning Robert Görl (+DJ Sylvie Marks)'s latest, "Dark Silver Moon Light". If you like classic D.A.F., it won't disappoint. Excellent stuff.
I've stuck up free lossless versions of a selection of my older (mostly satirical/humourous) numbers from 2003-2020 on new music co-op Subvert, until I get round to making some new stuff: Subvert.fm/jimjarmo
Separated at birth? Reform's Tim Montgomerie on Newsnight and Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester...
My daughter just sent me this video she filmed earlier of a magpie taking the piss out of a rabbit. (I added the music.)
Simon Fisher Turner's Record Store Day 2026 release "Stuff" is a beautiful collection of ambient soundscapes and eclectic field recordings, a wonderfully mesmeric antedote to the maelstrom of media and madness wearing us all down. A sonic bath for the soul. If you can still grab a copy, do.
Friday. Fish and chips night. Lovely bit of haddock on my plate. Nipped out to the garage to grab a beer. Came back in to find haddock on floor being eaten by thieving bastard cat. Grrr.
