Happy 8/8 everyone! Hope all the predators out there have a great hunt and prey an effective hiding spot for the occasion! Also, to try getting back into drawing more regularly so I want to make one clean sketch per week going forward. I want to take suggestions for them below, too, if you want!

Hey guess what, it's my birthday today! ...I'm also planning on stepping back on being a community artist for the foreseeable future. I posted a journal on my FA which you can read below, but it's nothing terribly serious. I just need my head in the right place for a while.

Hi all,

Today is my birthday, and I've reflecting on a lot of things now that another year has come and gone. I've been a part of the furry and Pokémon communities for quite some time now, and while I've been mostly absent due to my graduate school work it's been nice to have this constant rock for me to fall back on. Being an artist and trying to be present has also been a point of stress, knowing how fast the landscape moves and the limited time I've had to work on art over the years contribute greatly to that. Lack of time to practice, lack of motivation to hone my skills, all exacerbated by my thesis and laboratory work that always loom overhead. If my studies and writing go the way they have the plan is to graduate in 2027, but even then a possible big return to the community might not work because years of rust and lack of communication can be extremely hard to fix.

Is this another journal telling people to be patient with me? I don't know. I can say I have plenty of sketches I've been working on which are close to being finished or that I have ideas just waiting to be put on canvas, but I'm sure you've all had enough big promises with little delivery coming from me. The more I think about it the more stepping away from trying to be a community or even niche artist like I have been sounds freeing. All commissions that have been paid for are already finished, my obligations outside of the sketch vote I held a couple years ago are cleared—perhaps it's time for me to step away and come back only when the time is right.

This little bit reflection has been more meandering, but this has been something that has been gnawing away at me for quite some time. I've always been an anxious person, constantly plagued with guilt as far back as I can remember. Hell, even making things for friends just for fun can be an exercise in regulating my emotions and expectations at times. Oran Woods (2015 - 2025) - I've had this chubby rat for a decade now, it's wild. He's certainly gotten bigger, that much is evident. The Raichu's design hasn't changed much, though, he's nothing if not consistent!

So, I've been having trouble with drawing the past couple months. I've tried to work on a few pieces with my deer paladin character in peril but it's not going great. Been chipping away at this for a few weeks and it feels off but I can't tell why. I think I just need more practice...

A commission for anonymous of my Delver's Beast World deer paladin, Lilea Feu, having his face used as a seat for a portly, bottom-heavy fire drake that seems more than eager to use the cervine as a living resting spot... Re-post of an earlier submission.

A sweat-soaked drake who is sitting on a bipedal deer's face whose leash is being held while the dragon strokes himself from the action. A blush makes it apparent that the deer is willing to be in this position, standing with his hands behind his back while the drake cups under his chin with a paw and exhales. A massive tail drapes over the deer's head, inbetween his antlers, and rests against the back of his neck.

A commission for Mileau of their Serperior twins, Rhodes and Rhea, doing what they do best when a Zangoose steps into their territory. To say the Zangoose is enjoying himself would be an understatement, hoping this situation can last for as long as it possibly can...

2025 is the Year of the Snake? Besides writing my thesis this is going to be a busy year for me, huh? To end 2024, though, have a preview of a piece I'm working on between commissions. Everyone wants to get in shape for the new year, why not lift your heavy snake friend to help kick start that goal?

A commission for Halestrom of my Raichu with his Barbie movie swag being sat on by a large Skuntank. I'd say it worked out for the both of them if that smug grin and those blushing cheeks have anything to say about the arrangement. An commission from last year, but far and away one of my favorites.

A commission for @dracour.bsky.social of his dragon lulling a captured Chuki (VexxBlack) deeper into those all-encompassing coils. No doubt it'd be impossible for the rodent to escape, but how long could the dragon possibly keep them? Only time will tell.

A commission done for CcJj09 featuring Olive, the Seviper, dangling a hypnotized Domino just above their open maw. The coils around his leg seem firm, but who knows how quickly they can let the hyena fall into the inky abyss below.

V5 for February - Trussed up in the vine trap We're finally to vote #5 for this February experiment. My Zangoose, Alita, has found himself bound by a thicket of vines he stumbled into, leaving him trapped and hanging for any less than savory Pokémon to potentially find.

V4 for February - A slimy petting This is one that would require the most work, taking a big Raichu and having him lay atop an even bigger Goodra. I've always liked this kind of all-encompassing hold, even if most comes from that layer of goop that comes off the slug dragon.

V3 for February - A rabbit and his snake One of my D&D characters, Barnaby Cottonwood, and the snake demon he made a pact with, Daija, sleeping after an accident after a mission. Having a snake as a massive blanket and body pillow is a perk of the job, though it's quite a risk.

V2 for February - Forced mud bath A mud bath never hurt anyone, right? Well, maybe if you're bullied into one by a Pokémon that's twice your size for it. Swampert has always been one of my favorite Pokémon and I loved the idea of one using those big ol' hands to good use.

V1 for February - Big, squishy Floatzel I was inspired by a drawing I saw months ago, one of a Floatzel with an overinflated inner tube squishing it together with a smug look on their face. I wondered what they would look like fully fleshed out and came up with this. Makes me jealous, honestly.
