On this day, 163 years ago, my great grandfather was held captive in Christ Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. He was the assistant surgeon for the 11th PA.

I had the great privilege of attending the preview of @jamieford.bsky.social Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet musical. For someone who has loved this novel forever, it was such a joy to see it come to life in music, song & dance. Wonderful voices. (kudos to young Henry and Keiko) &staging.
My mom's cousin, George Ham Cannon, was the 1st medal of honor of #WWII. He died on Dec 7 on Midway as part of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I promised my mom years ago I would find his marker at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. This is the 2nd time I've visited it in the last 16 years.

80 years ago today, a tsunami slammed into Hilo, HI, wiping many parts of the town and killing scores. One of the places destroyed was the USO center on Coconut Island. My husband's uncle remembers going there during WWII. I write about in my mystery. tinyurl.com/nyxsf7j3
