Opened up a random cabinet during a tour to show example specimen and look who it is! @martinebotany.bsky.social alongside another from Bartram’s garden. No shortage of things to talk about/tour went long.
Some incredible talks and posters at #Botany2026! Consider submitting to @ijpsjournal.bsky.social - a great journal to support and share your work!
Someone mentioned off hand they saw my picture in the AHS magazine. Wow, what a honor to be listed among such good company on this who’s who watch list.
Thanks for the book recommendation @flannerm.bsky.social! Reading now. It is almost too convenient that my office is steps away from the Carnegie Library. herbariumworld.wordpress.com/2026/07/06/b...

So happy to join @ijpsjournal.bsky.social editorial board! I’ve definitely made the right choice. And to have this surprise in my mailbox to start my week… 😊
Why?? Why do some morrow’s honeysuckle Lonicera morrowii have red fruits and others have orange? Curious 🧐 . (I asked the twitter verse years ago and don’t think I got an answer.)
I just got Simberloff’s new book on history of invasion biology. I didn’t realize it was so long 😭 Looking forward to reading certain chapters.
Got a nice demo last week on newly designed probe to measure leaf spectral reflectance on herbarium specimens. Should I get in on the hottest new thing in herbaria???!! (Just need to find the $$$)
Can’t. Get. Enough. Trillium. www.masonheberling.com/collected-on...
Out with a new student to show our field site this morning. We found some nice stuff amid the snow 🥶 🌼 Leaves a bit crispy…
Awesome exhibition just opened at Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation @cmu.edu “To make a prairie” - on the topic of pollination and how we came to know what we know as shown through botanical art, books, and specimens. I love the approach, epistemological interrogation through archives
There’s a bat in the herbarium!?Holding on to this guy as part of loan to Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation for an upcoming exhibition exploring pollination next month.
Exciting new undergraduate research opportunities here at Carnegie Museum in Botany! Applications due March 1. drive.google.com/file/d/1jNNy...
Every year at this time, I’m reminded that Lonicera morrowii has two different fruit colors. And each year, I wonder if there is any explanation. I think the same species, right? Maybe I’ll remember to tag a few this year to see if color maintains year to year. Maybe.
Excited for our new paper out led by Chatham University undergraduate Searrah Bierker presenting a new, holistic approach to herbarium specimen collections, what we call "integrated vouchers," that aims to capture intraspecific variation not well documented in herbaria. dx.doi.org/10.2992/007....
@thetreecorener.bsky.social look what I came across today helping Rose-Marie Muzika clean out her office…(also, hard copy of your ms thesis)
A lot of turkey vulture action today at powdermill nature reserve.
Perfect timing as ephemerals come and go in the north temperate world! NSF REPS project of @ajyancy.bsky.social 😊🌸
Skunk cabbage has some incredible roots. Been mean to excavate one for a while. Finally did yesterday.
