Norside is such a good band. We're not nearly as close as when we saw them last year and could practically reach out and touch them but this is good too
#nowspinning Fieldwork - Thereupon I discovered this album on Bluesky! I followed a Classical Music Starter Pack and pianist @vijayiyer.bsky.social was on it. He is also a jazz pianist. He shared this album and knew I had to have it in my vinyl collection! He's quickly become one of my favorite
#nowspinning 10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe One of my all-time favorite albums! I finally have it on vinyl
#nowspinning Miles Davis - Milestones My favorite era of Miles starts a few years after this album, but this lineup and album is phenomenal. I kind of forgot how good they were
#nowspinning Bruce Hornsby and the Range - Live: The Way It Is Tour 1986-87 Bruce Hornsby is one of my top 10 favorite artists across all genres. I've wanted this on vinyl for quite some time!
#nowspinning Kronos Quartet - Self-Titled I love Kronos Quartet so much, and their albums always captivate me. I've discovered some of my favorite composers through their albums
#nowspinning Steeleye Span - Live At Last! This is my final Steeleye album of my vinyl purchases from the Spring/Summer. I have several more new ones that I'll highlight in the coming days that I'm really excited about
#nowspinning Another Steeleye Span album, Parcel of Rogues I picked up a bunch from Jerry's Records because they were all around $5. This one I remember from my father's collection, it's a great one
#nowspinning Steeleye Span - Back in Line I discovered this band in my father's record collection when I was in high school and lived their entire vibe. I still love them, even though they've been largely forgotten. This album is new to me, and is later (1986). Not loving it so far
#nowspinning Renaissance - Ashes are Burning Renaissance is now one of the bands I own the most records of. It's them, Steeleye Span, Yes, Bruce Hornsby, REM, Peter Paul and Mary, Andre Crouch, Jean-Luc Ponty, and Miles Davis It's a combination of how much I love the band and how cheap they are
#nowspinning Stanley Clarke - Modern Man This is the last of my $1 finds from April, I've done a nice job savoring them. Next up are the albums that I paid normal used record prices for. Excited to listen to new-to-me records that I know I'll like and should sound clean
#nowspinning Donald Byrd - Stepping Into Tomorrow My next to last $1 find for now. The album cover is 🚮 but the record itself is ok
Every year, usually on July 3rd, a country club that is close to us puts on a fireworks show. We can see it from our front yard! Our kids are noise sensitive and don't love large crowds. So it's perfect! -Less noise -No crowds -No traffic/parking And when it's done, kids can go right to bed!
#nowspinning McCoy Tyner - Together I'm very excited to have this album on vinyl, I nearly squealed with joy when I found it at the $1 sale. The lineup is phenomenal. The record and the cover are both in VG+ condition as well!
#nowspinning Freddie Hubbard - Bundle of Joy One of my last recent $1 finds. Hopefully this motivates me to do my annual deep clean of my bedroom
#nowspinning Cannonball Adderley Quintet - In San Francisco As it spins, I know right away why it was a $1 find. Tons of skips in the first track . If the rest plays clean I might still keep it because live Cannonball = 🔥🔥🔥
#nowspinning The Modern Jazz Quartet - European Concert I should be watching the #Astros but the kids are using all of the devices for a little while longer
The contrast between the setup for set 1 and set 2 is crazy to me, even though I expected it! I'm remembering why String Cheese Incident is one of my absolute favorite bands, especially live
