If climate change concerns *are* mentioned, it’s shockingly common for msm to obliquely, belatedly tack that on wayyy down the page, presented as a fringe opinion that can be “dismissed” rather than a global scientific consensus. This is literally 30 paragraphs into this story:

A number of environment groups criticized Friday's agreement. The Pembina Institute said the deal will "undermine clean energy investment, and accelerate climate change." while the Canada Climate Institute said it will "put Canada’s target of net zero by 2050 well out of reach."

Carney dismissed those concerns, arguing that the federal and Alberta governments had agreed in writing to reaching net zero emissions by 2050, and that deal "more than compensates" for the potential emissions increase from a new pipeline.

"This is climate action. This is investment, this is moving forward," he said.

My letter says:
Mr Carney, I'm writing from Lytton, BC. I am breathing the choking smoke of two wildfires racing toward us from the south, the fronts of which are now 20 km away, casting embers and ash and burned needles ahead of them. There are 5 first nation communities in the path of the fire, each scrambling to protect their communities and prepare for evacuation. There's nothing but more windy, hot weather in the forecast. This is what climate change looks like NOW. This is what a planet in crisis looks like NOW. And you are expanding oil and gas?! It's absolutely unconscionable. You are selling out our lives, and our children's futures, for what? More money? You can't spend profits on a planet on fire. I'm enraged, saddened, and more determined than ever to push back on your outrageous "vision" of profits over everything.

Towns affected by this immediate climate crisis that don't have any air quality monitoring stations AT ALL: Lytton, Merritt, Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Cache Creek. It almost seems intentional. Why would we need to know how quickly this air could harm us?

Passing on advice from TNRD director Tricia Thorpe for those near this wildfire: -have a go bag -have a plan, including plans for animals -set up contacts if you get separated -if you have time, move propane tanks, fuels, firewood, lawn furniture, even soak w hoses. And take care ♥️ #Lytton

Goddamnit. I left Lytton a couple of hours ago after a smoking hot dry week that sucked the remaining moisture out of everything. Coming up on five years since the town was destroyed by wildfire and it’s only getting worse.

Be advised we have an uncontrolled wildfire burning south of the community. An evacuation alert has been issued for residents located north of Klahkamich 17.
There is no need to evacuate at this time, but be prepared to do so on short notice, if an evacuation order is issued. In the event an evacuation order is issued, evacuees can report to the Battlefields Community Hall for shelter.

As long as Canada keeps building MORE pipelines and MORE LNG factories fed by MORE fracked gas to fuel MORE cars there will be no possibility of controlling wildfires. None.
