How it ended, on day 14. After talking to the local cat expert (a very enthusiastic member of staff, with an encycopedic knowledge of all on-site animals - mainly cats), they were really surprised she'd taken to anybody.
Cat of the night, possibly the best cat photo of the whole vacation: Jimmy the Cranky Cross-Eyed Cat. Great posing skills, but pretty darn hostile.
Four days later, still hanging out. She's old, deff and a little skittish, but we're getting on well.
We've just reunited with this massive cat which we affectionately named "Big Lad" when we were here last year. He's been through the wars in the past. He has a large scar on his flank and a damaged tail from before he was taken in. He's looking well though; well looked after. Very happy and zen.
Good books in good company. There's a lot of wisdom just in this small section of my book case.
And even after releasing more hair than is normally possible the night before, and a good brush, I'm still left with a merkin. Her hair isn't even that colour.
Off to sleep. Just went out to feed the hogs and there was one already waiting. It did get a little spooked, but not badly and is now chowing down
I think the aircon unit will be making an early appearance. It's hard to explain, but it feels WAY hotter than the numbers would imply. I'm not sure if its UV+humidity or something else, but even today if feels comparable to the 35~°c weather I've experienced abroad when on holiday.
Earlier video. The first one was tiny - not baby small, but certainly not adult.
Ah man. Plenty of food for all, no need to fight. (No harm in the video, just a tussle or I'd not have shared it) Earlier in the night, pretty sure we saw mama sow and wee piglet, and I don't think these are either - that means we're getting a greater footfall than we thought.
I still haven't quite managed to pin down where she is living, but my compost bin in the rough corner of the garden is a strong candidate. I still have doubts around that, but given they can travel over a mile a night, I'm just happy have them as a regular.
A total of 5 (one was hidden around the back), and two in waiting. This is normal these days.
Bed time. The cat was sandbagging on her secondary bed & refused any direction entirely. I formed it into a sling of sorts from said bed to move her into the kitchen so we're not woken up at half 4 with generic yowling at the door. She seemed pleased, if not a little confused.
Aw man. Noticed this one looking for food (I've delayed putting the food out during daylight hours as some of the birds were taking it - despite there being two feeders with different foods in).
