I was able to check in to the FreeDV 40m net tonight. It was at 8pm CST and on 7.182KHz. I was just using a 20W Xigu G90 and a lovely EFHW 60’ long wire hooked on a 20’ high tree branch. I’m still amazed that this technology works as well as it does. #amateurradio #hamradio #freedv

ShortWave RadioGram tonight on 5050KHz at 0030z (7/20) was pretty noisy, I’d say a 3-3 signal with plenty of static crashing. Most of the text decoded and just these pics. #shortwave #shortwaveradiogram #radio

I was cleaning out some old news papers from the garage and came across a bunch of political ads from ‘24. Yeah, these didn’t age well. Early voting (mail in), lower inflation, lower gas prices… pretty much flipped on EVERYTHING that DJT promised. #politics #republicanlies #trumplied

I was bored and looking for something fun to try so I picked up a copy of Nobi Nobi Sword, a card based RPG game that allows for solo play. I read through the rules and tried it out. It looks nice, great artwork and the text on the cards is fun. Not a great solo game, really lacking. Oh well.

I managed to get my G90 to talk to my laptop via the DE-19 data interface and did done FT8 on 20m. I’m using a 9:1 balun with 75’ of wire along the top a fence. It’s not even a straight line, kind of bends 30 deg 1/3 the way. Using a 20’ counterpose #hamradio #amatureradio #ft8

Playing around with a kickstarter #Yashica camera ( #FD-X100 ) that has an #infrared setting. You can actually hear the hot filter ‘click’ out when you go into that mode. It’s winter so there not a lot that trad. IR pics are made of but these antennas looked kind of neat #BWphoto
