A couple of recent targets I imaged and processed in PixInsight. NGC 7000 the North America Nebula, and NGC 6992 the Eastern Veil Nebula. Both captured using 2 different dual-narrowband filters, to get H-alpha, Sulphur-II and Oxygen-III wavelengths of light. #astrophotography #ngc7000 #ngc6992

Welp. Seems like scammers have used my email address to mailbomb me by making lots of pointless customer support requests at sites and products I don’t use and never even heard of before!
Huge storm (Kristin) just came through Portugal early this morning at around 4:15am with 50+ km/h winds in our area (up to 150 km/h further up north around Leiria). Power outage in our neighbourhood for about 2.5 hours
Happy #PortfolioDay everyone. I’m a landscape and astrophotographer. You can see the rest of my work on portfolio.jonathanpoh.photography I’ve also got a ko-fi store where I will be selling prints and digital wallpaper. ko-fi.com/jonathanpoh #photography #astrophotography
To kick things off, I am offering some wallpapers for your phone or computer, from a selection of my photos. They are completely free, or you can pay what you want, on my Ko-fi store.
By supporting me with a membership, you will ensure I will be able to continue doing this full time, producing beautiful pictures from Portugal, Spain, over the world, and even outer space.
Took a drive out to Sines and Porto Covo yesterday for some location scouting, trying to find a good spot to photograph the lunar eclipse on Friday morning. Found a very cool island with a fortress ruin on it - Ilha do Pessegueiro.
Hey fellow photographers! Ready to capture the upcoming total lunar eclipse? If you’re in the Lisbon or Setúbal area, join me this Thursday (6 March) for a hands-on workshop where we'll plan out how to photograph this amazing astronomical event. #photography #photographyworkshop #lunareclipse2025
C49 Rosette Nebula This was taken from my Bortle 7 backyard using my Canon 6D camera, Askar FRA400 telescope, and a dual narrowband filter.
The Orion Nebula is probably well known to most people, it's so bright that it's visible to the naked eye. However, there's so much more going on in that region of space. Also visible in this image is De Mairan's Nebula, Running Man Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, Flame Nebula and Barnard's Loop
Processing my capture of Orion Nebula (M42) from two nights ago. I did a sequence of 120s exposures (left), 30s exposures (middle) and 2s exposures (right). This is just the result of stacking the image data.
OK, so the model used for Apple's Image playground also can't generate hands properly, and can produce body horrors. The prompt was simple - “A man making a pizza” and somehow, the last one just has a dismembered head on a pizza.
It’s getting cold here in Portugal. Probably the lowest temps I’ve seen in this area.
Just finished processing another astro photo - M 45 Pleiades (the Seven Sisters) www.astrobin.com/owigqf/
I suppose this means my next mac will need more than 32GB of RAM that I currently have on this MacBook Pro
