Been making my way through the five Mojave 3 albums, which have been out of print forever so I didn’t know them at all. They’re a revelation. Turns out when you strip away the feedback, there’s no excuse for not recognising Neil Halstead as one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.
Saturday morning listening - The Sweet’s masterpiece Desolation Boulevard, on glorious vinyl!
At Rough Trade Liverpool for the listening party for the new Durutti Column album!
I have just discovered Scheer, an utterly brilliant alt metal Shoegaze powerpop band on 4AD. They basically sound like Swervedriver fronted by Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries. 10/10 no notes
Saturday morning listening: the Flamin’ Groovies’ power pop classic Shake Some Action, on glorious vinyl!

Sunn O))) were absolutely incredible last night. Sound as a physical, tangible thing you can feel on your skin and in your bones. I may not recover.

My most enduring contribution to music criticism: the Great Axis of Jonathan Aesthetics
Milk ‘N’ Cookies’ one brilliant album was never released on cassette during the band’s brief lifetime. Fortunately Burger Records has rectified this twice over, by putting out a tape of the album backed with a ‘75 live CBGB’s show, and another tape with two ‘77 shows at LA’s Whisky.
