Yes, and I still remember the feeling of betrayal when I finally bought my second RPG, Metamorphosis Alpha, and I saw that it had rules that were incompatible with D&D. Why would they do that to me?! Now what if TSR _did_ release a D&D-compatible sci-fi RPG and didn't bother touting it as such?
Here's the 1999 Ravenloft book with "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" more prominent than "Ravenloft". Compare it to the previous handling, which had "Ravenloft" more prominent than "AD&D".

In Steading of the Hill Giant Chief, was the DM coached to make reaction rolls for the giants that the characters met? Not that I recall. Did reaction rolls get much love in AD&D modules, Keep in the Borderlands, DUNGEON adventures, etc? Old-school gamers promote reaction rolls, but did TSR? #TTRPG
Cue the graphic from my stories 3E campaign, in which dragons are the creations of the "satan" figure, and he tried for perfection, but honestly they're a little messed up (see also elves). Their life cycle is something else. They refer to humans, et al, as "dirtlings".
Last week, my step-daughter & I dropped in on @chanceencounter.games in Ravenna (Seattle), and we were impressed. They have a big array of indie games. My step-daughter bought something for herself, I got a picked up a copy of Daggerheart, which I’d heard all about at @the-kraken.bsky.social.

Lucern hammer? You might be right. In 1st ed, it was in the PHB. In 2nd Ed, I'm not sure. Here it is on a 1st ed page. When I taught my game-design class, I would show this page to the class when we were discussing the possible presence of autistic traits among game designers and gamers. 1/2

Shemeshka runs a casino called Fortune's Wheel. In Over the Edge (1992), the storied casino is likewise run by an inter-dimensional, female inhuman, but in my game that's an android named Chikutorpl. Weird coincidence, but not that weird. 2/2
