I only have passing knowledge of WH40K lore. But as I read through @aptshadow.bsky.social's Day of Ascension, I looked up some stuff on a wiki, and while I enjoyed it MORE knowing LESS, it's a testament to A.T.'s ability to craft an accessible story that is light on lore and heavy on suspense.

עזבתי את Playtika.

הדבר הראשון שעשיתי היה לקנות רכב שטח, לצאת לטייל בארץ רק אני, אוהל שהרכבתי על הגג הרכב ומטבח קומפלט שבניתי.

בהכנות לטיול הייתי צריך לבחור משחק קופסא, כי תנאי שטח זה תנאי שטח, לא לוקחים הכל.

בטיול מצאתי את עצמי חוזר לאותו משחק קופסא, ונהנה כל פעם מחדש מההתלהבות של האנשים, היה במשחק אתגר וחוויה ממכרת.

משחקי קופסא נולדו כדי ליצור ריגוש קבוצתי סביב שולחן. אבל שם, באמצע שום מקום, הבנתי שיום אחד אני אבנה למשחק הזה נשמה דיגיטלית כזו שתוכל להגיע לכל יוזר בעולם, לא רק לשולחן אחד באמצע המדבר.

בזכות AI, אני היום בתהליכים להוציא את החלום הזה לאור. המשחק נאSur (מרובעים), והוא יצא לאוויר העולם בשבועות הקרובים. יכול להיות שיהיה גם אירוע השקה, stay Tuned!

AI companies produce something that solves no problems, but devalues creative work to the point of disincentivizing us from sharing with our community. And a few people get rich in the process.

"We shouldn't be surprised that people are using AI to do this kind of thing, because the incentives and the infrastructure is built to encourage this kind of overproduction," University of Wisconsin-Madison professor of media and cultural studies Jeremy Morris told 404 Media. "This is a problem that's existed for as long as these platforms existed, so I don't think AI creates something new here. It just amplifies the amount that people can do."

They are paying to support the stream, because people usually need to get paid to keep doing things. The shout out is just a bonus.

If you tip a busker on the street, you are not paying for them saying thank you in return.

Do you factor how wealthy an actor or musician is when you decide to buy a album, movie, or t-shirt?

Like, it's fine if you don't like streamers, I don't really ether, but this is just how the entertainment industry works. People like a thing so they pay to support it.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who do factor this into who they decide to tip or whatever, but some people just go "I like the thing > we live in capitalism and people usually trade money for things they like > here

These systemic dependencies reveal a key point: While AI superficially appears like another digital platform industry — providing services and products like ChatGPT and Claude — it is really more like a heavy industry. Every new AI user requires more computing power — what AI companies call “compute” — that in turn requires more energy and resources. Between 2010 and 2022, despite the extraordinary growth of big tech platforms, data center energy demand remained virtually static as those companies switched to more efficient “hyperscale” data centers. That all changed following the launch of ChatGPT; since 2022, energy demand of data centers has more than doubled. The International Energy Agency expects energy demand to more than double again by 2030 in its “base case” forecast. With AI, there are no economies of scale.
