Swedish physicist exploring electrochemistry in Poland. Cycling, climbing, electrochemistry, some politics. He/Him.
Lots of people watching the eclipse on Siekierki bridge with the sun against the Warsaw skyline.
In Warsaw today’s eclipse in about 80%. The forecast promises clear skies, but looking up… let’s hope it clears up during the day.
First time I’ve seen this monstrosity in real life. If it’s also the last I’d be happy.
Crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce for the coming year in preparation. 48 kg of tomatoes getting ready to be boiled and put into jars.
I love when people who make forms don't take into account other than "standard" names etc... Had to fill in a form for a conference verifying that my PhD student should get the student discount. Neither her nor my name fit in the form:
Argentina’s strategy throughout the World Cup seems to have been “pass it to Messi and hope for a miracle”.
Went bouldering today and it was too hot and too humid and the skin on my hands was really suffering. Also, I’m really bad at a) coordination moves, and b) slopers, so this took way too many tries.
... only now had Dawid come around to making additional measurements and such to finalise this. The paper is interesting, clearly showing that luminescence from up-converting nanocrystals can either be enhanced or quenched by the presence of plasmonic silver nanowires, depending ...
Oh no 😢 I love that The Guardian included this bit:
TIL 🧵 There’s a street in Paris called Boulevard de Magenta, which is not named after the colour. Instead, the colour magenta is named for the Battle of Magenta, which took place outside the town of Magenta, then in Austria. The French chemist Emmanuel Verguin patented…
For those, like me, who are terminally indecisive, Café Gourmand is the best dessert invention since… well, desserts!
Enligt Wikipedia verkar det vara seismisk reflektionsavbildning. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baikal_...
Anatomy of a very dense conference session. 14 talks in 2.5 hours without break. We started slightly delayed, but kept reasonably on time…
I was chairing a PhD defence today, and following @theborgh.bsky.social’s recommendations I had invested in a linen jacket for hot weather. I just didn’t realise I almost perfectly colour matched the bathroom wall at work.
Coffee and bikes. ☕️🚴 My lovely colleagues know what I like! ❤️
It's hard to believe that this little guy just finished school! Where did all those years go... and who is this teenager in my home?
Låter väldigt otrevligt, tänkte jag och tittade på vår prognos. 🔥🤯
Otroligt mycket folk vid Ullevi. Kön gick hela vägen runt stadion.
I am NOT famous! At least some of the models got it correct. But for some reason, Mistral thinks I am a member of the Social Democratic Party in Sweden and apparently serving as a minister in the government.
Visited the Pilane sculpture park. Really loved the giant head, Anna, by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. It looks surreal, especially on an overcast day when it blends into the sky. The sculptures by Tony Cragg are also worth the visit. (Pilane.org)
Leaving Solaris for this time. Hopefully with some good data. Hope to back again. But for now… 💤 I need to catch a train to Warsaw in the morning, get home and re-pack, and then a flight to Sweden in the evening. #AdademicTravel
Our Brazilian PhD student is not planning to miss the match just because we have measurements on. #electrochemistry
I escaped from the synchrotron during the day to stretch out with a bit of bouldering. But now we’re settling in for the next night shift. Beam injection was at eight, so now just final checks before starting the measurements. #electrochemistry #XANES
How are you all partying on a Friday night? I’m watching a XANES spectrum very slowly developing over the course of a few hours 🥳 #insitu #electrochemistry
The kitchenette in my hotel room has optimised the amount of kitchen utensils.
Checking in for the start of our 96-hour measurement session at the ASTRA beam-line at the Solaris synchrotron in Kraków. #electrochemistry #XAS
I love the first sliver of a crescent 🌙 after a new moon, when you can clearly see the the earthshine at dusk.
