Curly trees I drew a few days ago, while I was in the countryside.

I draw very little and quite slowly in my sketchbooks. This is from a small travel book I draw mostly trees in during summer time. This is a tree near my house in Berlin. I drew it summer 2024.

In der Ausstellung in der Buchhandlung Die gute Seite zeigt Joris Bas Backer Bilder aus seiner neuen Graphic Novel Baumschatten, erschienen bei Edition Moderne. Aus einem kleinen Kiezkonflikt – das Für und Wider des Erhalts einer so genannten „Nazi-Eiche“ auf einem Berliner Schulhof – destilliert Bas Backer ein soziales Panorama und ein ganzes Netzwerk persönlicher und sozialer Beziehungen, Meinungen und Spannungen.

In the exhibition at Die gute Seite bookstore, Joris Bas Backer presents images from his new graphic novel Baumschatten, published by Edition Moderne. From a minor neighborhood conflict – the pros and cons of preserving a so-called “Nazi oak” in a Berlin schoolyard – Bas Backer distills a social panorama and an entire network of personal and social relationships, opinions and tensions.

The Berlin festival @comicinvasion.bsky.social is underway. In 2 weeks I'm excited to present a marathon by artists part of the 'Comic Werkstatt', a course at @vhsberlin.bsky.social coördinated by @dirk.mastodon.art.ap.brid.gy , @steinercomix.bsky.social and me. Come to Aquarium on May 3rd!

Preparing a little for an exhibition coming up in 3 weeks.

This is the third translation to German in the animal fables by Toon Tellegen with my illustrations. In this one, a frog has no problems loving themselves and their own croaking. Rather, they struggle with how to get the animals of the forest to love the croaking as much too.
