I keep returning to the “Orientalism” exhibit at The Met. Wonderful show!
Anti-war poster from the Chicago III album. When my grandmother would visit, she'd say (with a shiver) that I "sleep with the deads."
My son's chihuahua goes to the beach, where the sand bothers her eyes.
For a minute right before taking this video, I was completely alone in the main hall of The Met’s Oceania wing. I love late Sunday afternoons at this museum. Stay away from European paintings, Egypt and the major special exhibits and you can often have the place nearly to yourself.
@northamerreview.bsky.social does such a great job in building visibility for its contributors and their work. I'm so grateful to them. A marvelous bunch.
My new poem in North American Review. I'm so grateful to J.D. Schraffenberger, Rachel Morgan and Emily Stowe for their continued support of my work. It means the world to me.
My annual pre-dawn Christmas Day walk to The Met through the empty NYC streets.
My GF rescued an injured sparrow on 1st Ave in NYC, and I played avian EMT and transported him/her crosstown to Wild Bird Fund on Columbus. Gave them a nice donation for taking care of the little guy/girl. #animalrescue #birdrescue
I'm excited to have work appearing imminently in The Louisville Review. It will be my first published three-page poem for which -- as anyone who writes longer poems knows -- acceptances come even harder given the journal space they require.
My girlfriend and her workmates as Edna and The Incredibles. #Halloween #costumes #TheIncredibles
It took me 10 years to write poems about my mom’s death. The first was just published by Midwest Quarterly.
My poem is featured in promotions for Midwest Quarterly's July issue! I'm very excited to have work appear again in this wonderful journal!
If you’re in New York, do not miss the Sargent exhibit at The Met! Photos do it no justice! The light, OMG, the light!!
An early birthday gift from my GF’s mom. The best Florida oranges ever! 😋😃🍊
My only Covid poem was just published by the marvelous poetry annual Rhino.
Where is this, Maureen? We just spent some time with the pelicans on the pier in St. Pete. Yes, a few flew overhead.
Alone late in the day in the Met’s large contemporary gallery #915.
Late night tiramisu and cappuccino with a rock candy sweetener. I’m gonna pay for this.
Drinking coffee outside in NYC where it’s nearly 60 degrees at the end of December.
