Book manuscript submitted. More to come soon but happy to have got this far with my pre-battle speech project. I’ve been walking up in the mountains and have now come down.

End of week one and I think it’s safe to say I like it here. Will try to post more about research once things are fully in gear, but you can have one more view.
Day one at @unibergen.bsky.social and I’ve set up my book shelves. There seems to be so many more when they’re boxed up and need lifting.
Last trip of what has turned out to be an astonishingly difficult move up to Bergen. But the weather is fine and things seem to be getting brighter.
This arrived, just in time to be packed up for moving. My chapter on the Apocryphon of Ezekiel argues that it was not a single composition in antiquity, and it mostly made up of independent short sayings. Thanks to the editor Marieke Dhont and @tandtclark.bsky.social for publishing. Happy new year
My author’s copy has arrived from @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social . Very nice to see in person. I wrote an entry with Laura Quick on developments in women’s ritual bathing in ancient Judaism.
Me: Depending on who you ask, the gap and dash mark is to signal a new section, indicate the conjunction of two sources, or hop over an imperfection in the surface of the material. I’ve never seen anything else in the corpus quite like it. I ultimately don’t have a good answer

About 31 miles of 75 done so far today. The only problem is the cafes open at 11:00
The zodiac features on a number of synagogue mosaics so perhaps some people have done work in that area. There’s also quite a bit of work on the Qumran calendars which might have some cross-over. I also found this note in the Charlesworth OTP entry on the Treatise of Shem
