sorry, to clarify, I've seen the DC (thanks Criterion!), just not in a theater - I actually saw the original release in '91, loved the soundtrack & cinematography, & the road trip aspect inspired me to travel out of the US for the first time. I have a soft spot for the film despite its quirks
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains
just for fun: here are four films that were 40 years old the year ALIENS was released: It's a Wonderful Life The Big Sleep Notorious Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast

"so what I'm thinking is, I think the game is an industry plant, it couldn't possibly be because the game appeals to some people and not to others, especially me, there must be a conspiracy behind all these good scores"
It’s rare when I'm not witheringly self-critical about my own writing, but I’m happy with my work here - it captures my admiration for the game as well as the thoughts racing through my head after an especially tough time, both for me & frankly the rest of the world. Not supernova-bad, but... 4/
I'd recently cleaned out & sold my late parents' house & I brought home a suitcase full of keepsakes, one of which was an old copy of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos. I idly started re-reading it, looking for some inspiration, then remembered a passage from another Sagan book, Pale Blue Dot. 3/
...then spent *ahem* a very long time agonizing over it. I initially wrote a bunch of scattered, unrelated thoughts and anecdotes about the game, but struggled to find a through line for weeks. 2/
If forced to name my favorite game, I'd probably say OUTER WILDS. So imagine my surprise & delight when @schillingc.bsky.social reached out to see if I'd be interested in writing the foreword for this amazing OW book he was writing/editing for @lostincult.co.uk. Naturally, I said yes... 1/

I've been "prefer to watch Coachella from the comfort of my couch on my big tee vee" years old for the last several years and I've made my peace with that
