Novo Nordisk's clinical trial for Ziltivekimab, an antibody targeting pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6, failed 👀 Interestingly, both IL-6 and hsCRP fell with treatment, suggesting an anti-inflammatory effect, yet this did not translate into fewer cardiovascular events.

Great to speak at the Life Summit in Berlin. The enthusiasm around longevity is remarkable. Now we need more science and less hype. When will we have robust, data-driven interventions that truly slow human aging?

AI is transforming our lives and science, but we need to be realistic about both its promise and its limitations. It was a pleasure to speak at the Health + AI Insiders Tech Show about AI in aging science, drug repurposing, and how AI could accelerate cryobiology for regenerative medicine.

On David Attenborough’s 100th anniversary, it’s nice to remember that he once sent me a handwritten reply declining my invitation to speak at the university. His work inspired my interest in animals, evolution, and long-lived species. Happy anniversary, Sir David 🎉

Aging biology is promising, but it's still a nascent field. Great to be back at the @mpiage.bsky.social speaking with students and researchers about some uncomfortable truths: We still don't understand the drivers of aging. And caloric restriction remains the top longevity intervention.

Great to speak at Targeting Longevity 2026 in beautiful Berlin, catch up with old friends, and meet new colleagues. From genomes to systems biology and machine learning, we need robust, data-driven models to understand ageing and identify the most promising interventions.

There are definitely worse places to discuss frailty, ageing, and using AI to discover drugs that preserve health.

Dark Prague was the perfect place to talk about longevity and fighting aging. Aging isn’t natural. It’s legacy code. A software design flaw. And we’re learning how to rewrite it.

On this Longevity Day, I questioned the field’s focus on healthspan, argued we need to be more creative and ambitious, and suggested that aging is driven not by molecular damage but by genetic programs. Had fun at TransVision 2025 in Madrid, though I may not have made many friends 😀
