A day late, but as promised, kinda, a quick note on recent dense reading: it’s possibly worth immersing yourself in the pre-1776/1800s America thru some literature. Today’s politics are really bad, and how bad they are may not be truly collectively known.
Nat gave me some light reading post mortem, which frankly is just what the doctor ordered. I’ll discuss the dense reading that concluded whilst we were tending to Dad probably, and appropriately, on May Day. But yeah, good read. First of three.

We have a proper autumn cold front crossing the great lakes today, and a buoy near Green Bay has very clearly registered its passing. About a 6 deg C, 10 deg F drop (eyeballing here). 1/2
