Another Washington incumbent seems to be underperforming a bit out in CD5. I don’t expect Rep. Baumgartner to lose, but this could be a race to watch if a “Blue Wave” comes to fruition as we approach Election Day.
I guess we get to spend the rest of the week wondering if Kshama Sawant can catch up with (R) Doug Basler… 🍿
I’m all for holding elected officials accountable, but this is just silly commentary from The Seattle Times. All I’ve gathered from this morning’s paper is that The Times really dislikes Katie Wilson and income taxes on the über-wealthy.
Currently in a Lyft on Denny Way and it appears SDOT is actively prepping the street for better bus lanes ❤️
Just got home from Portland. The Pearl District and Northwest Portland (Nob Hill) have so many urbanist gems: - modal filters in the Pearl - a dedicated pedestrian bridge (yay!) over I-405 (boo) - lots older stacked flats with balconies and porches in walkable + trendy Nob Hill

When you’re a Seattleite visiting Granville Island and overhear some snooty cruise ship tourists loudly proclaiming “this place is so much nicer than “Pike’s Place””

My retort: Seattle is already plagued by half-assed public infrastructure projects. Let’s get this one right and build the damn trains.
I really liked the Katy Trail in Dallas, Texas (a fellow rail-trail!); it would be nice to have similar separation for pedestrians and cycling/scooting along Burke Gilman.
Just used the Seattle Waterfront bike lanes for the first time in a while. Very happy they exist! But holy cow, the narrow curves + landscape walls will need to be reconfigured at some point. Yes, they slow down cyclists for pedestrian safety, but they’re dangerous for people on 🚲 & 🛴 at any speed

Currently waiting for a train in Portland and must say that our new Sound Transit stations along I-5 and I-90 are 100% better than this one! 🚗🚙🛻🚛🚚🛣️

Taking a moment on this beautiful day to appreciate the recent transformation of Seattle’s waterfront along Elliott Bay. Looking forward to Myrtle Edwards and Centennial Parks re-opening soon! Also: the mountain is definitely out. ☀️🏔️
