Bikes, public transit, movies. 🏳️🌈 Got bit by an animal and became that animal
Though to be fair, San Diego does have some excellent examples of quality infrastructure. Love these protected intersections. We need them in LA!
Is that a bike lane? No, it’s a sharrow surrounded by a car’s skid marks. Awesome illustration of why sharrows are not bike infrastructure. Thanks San Diego.
What in the carbrained hell is this monstrosity? And we are within San Diego city limits
MIRACLE MILE. Too little seen to be iconic but one of the few filmed in LA films to actually get its geography correct. Explicitly a disaster film, which is the iconic LA genre and also captures the small town “old LA” parochialism that powers a lot of Angeleno self-mythology.
Here’s a picture of two CDMX trains from last month while I catch my breath from that first half.
Since this happens regularly each week, all the traffic control devices were branded with the program and, from an American perspective, traffic control was not particularly hardened, even on wider roads were some car traffic was allowed in adjacent lanes.
Had a wonderful day enjoying Mexico City’s “Muévete en Bici” open street Sunday. 55km of car free cycling across leafy streets and wide boulevards. Imagining an LA where #cicLAvia is every Sunday.
Two years ago, I quit my job in entertainment to pursue urban planning as a career instead of just being a crank at community meetings. Today I graduated as a MURP. For too long I thought I missed my shot, but the corny aphorism’s true: it’s never too late to become who you want to be.
Also they might want to rethink the placement of these real time arrival screens, as they are partially blocked from view from the sidewalks.
The station plazas are massive and will eventually (hopefully) attract development. Wayfinding to the nearest bus connections were nonexistent, and they really need a mid block crosswalk immediately outside Fairfax to connect with LACMA. Saw some jaywalking.
However! They really really need more seating, and the size of the elevators may be overkill
The platforms are large and cavernous, but also airy thanks to the lack of central support columns. They also feel a bit more compact than the B line stations from 30 year ago?
Some thoughts on the D Line stations. First off, while the original B and D line stations were highly customized, the new ones all follow a similar cavernous template. The massive art walls in the mezzanines are attractive and simple.
This theater is as beautiful as they say. So excited that I can now make it to screenings here more easily. @academymuseum.bsky.social should program a series of subway movies
In non-sarcastic Earth Day post, I’m on a nifty electric bus for a cross town work meeting.
Beautiful day and also love passing this lovely landmark in West Hollywood.
We must remove the stub-end of the 2, so useless and directs all of *this* down what should be a nice street.
Posting a picture of a cute Parisian fire truck I saw on a recent trip. We really need to slim down our American behemoths
