Since returning from Devon , i've been to trying to see & photograph some local Purple Hairstreak butterfles [thx Sandy M]. They spend alot of time at the top of Oak trees, so can be hard to see, let alone photograph. #fife #butterflies

Sadly it now seems Wednesday was the L-S Shrike's last, at Crail. During it's 4 day stay, many birders from far & wide enjoyed it. The twitch was handled very well by FBC members & a large sum of money was raised for Cancer charity. The whole event was very positive, so thanks to all concerned. ❤️
They were incredible, blew me away, long may they Thrum. Radhika was fab too. ❤️

I had an evening visit to Musselburgh hoping to see one of the recently reported Surf Scoters. On arrival dull conditions & a strong westerly wind made viewing difficult. I managed one Surf among the preening Velvet Scoters & Eiders. #birds #ducks #birdingLothian

An enjoyable walk with George on part of the Dunfermline cycle path this morning. I counted a minimum of 50 spikes of Broad-leaved Helliborine, 20+ Common Twayblade but only one Common Spotted orchid (thx to over zealous edge cutting by local Fife council). 🥲 #orchids @ukorchids.bsky.social
