One minute into The Odyssey, a fire alarm went off. We’re all waiting outside, for the all clear. How many years before I see my home again?
Pretty great day trip to Galveston to celebrate what would’ve been my father’s hundredth birthday. Wonderful gathering of friends and family. My brother and his wife had T-shirts and cookies with an old ad from my dad’s political campaigns on them. Accurate down to the union bug.
My wife and I are working through the seasons of "Elementary" and I enjoy thinking that Sick Boy woke up one afternoon from a night of drugs and debauchery and decided to take up work as a consulting detective.
Unexpectedly bracing quote in this @peterbakernyt.bsky.social story about Lindsey Graham’s pathetic toadying to Trump to stay in the game. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/13/u...
We Texans love our H•E•B. I had to wait for a lot of kids to have their moment with the big guy.
This politicking on the federal dime is so wrong. I guess I should be grateful they didn't slam Biden and Obama.
It’s not surprising that Gov. Greg Abbott is so wrong on the law and the Constitution on birthright citizenship. It’s just disappointing. Vanderbilt should ask him to mail back his law degree.
When the Heartland Institute crows "We're winning!" on the politics of climate change, the world is losing.
Because on Father's Day you go out and do what everybody else wants — and pay for it — I took my wife and daughter and son-in-law and the grandkids to see Toy Story 5. I'm not ashamed to say it made me weepy and very happy. Also, we had those ridiculous shaking seats, which the little guys loved.
My favorite picture of my dad, Babe Schwartz; he’d have turned 100 this year.
I hope your Juneteenth has been great. Remember where it all began: Galveston.
Old I may be, but I still feel like a kid when i see my byline in the NYT. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/12/s...
We wore ourselves out hiking around Sedona’s red rocks in 93-degree weather, but wow was it gorgeous.
This sweet little EV is now all mine. Just got back from buying out the lease.
It's Pride Month, so I'll be wearing this t shirt to the gym a lot. But who am I kidding? I wear this a lot anyway.
